Should we use this image somewhere?

Ryukama designed the following image for our spotlight advertisements a while back:

VS Battles Spotlight Image
I think that it is a nice design, and wonder if we should use it in one of our pages, and if so, which one? (It is probably best to simply keep the current logo for our main page however.)
 
I currently can't think of anywhere to put this, aside from the home page. I did think of putting it on the "characters" or "verses" category, but it would be out of place.

The only thing that I can think of is for our partner wikis use this as the image to link to us.

Well, we use their logo texts to link to them, so they do the same to us as well.
 
Maybe somewhere lower down the front page? I still think that it would look rather out of place with an extra VS sign though.
 
We could replace the old image with this one instead, and it should be near the top for maximum viewing. I don't like the sound of that though.

Maybe at the top of one of the rules pages, but it can be interpreted as kind of condescending if we do so.

The community page would have been an idea, but we can not place images there.
 
I agree with how the front page looks less interesting, but on the other hand I don't think it would be within my power to get anything changed. I will say how much I like how they have images for links to different articles, it makes things more interesting.
 
What I think would be interesting is if we had a cool thing like that for each type of media. I'm gonna give examples/suggestions below for each genre.

Manga would have Goku, Sailor Moon, Naruto, Luffy, Yusuke, Eren Jaeger, Natsu, Jotaro, and Ichigo.

Anime would have Shinji, Gurren Lagann, Ryuko, Greymon, Astro Boy, Yugi, and Ash Ketchum.

Comics would have Superman, Spider-Man, Thor, Batman, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel (female), Iron Man, Hulk, Galactus, Darkseid, and Spawn.

Games would have Mario, Sonic, Link, Pikachu, Master Chief, Kirby, Mega Man (classic), Samus, Solid Snake, Pac Man, Cloud, Lara Croft, and Crono (or Sora instead of Crono. It's a matter of series vs individual game. KH is a better series, CT is a better game).

Books would have Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, John Snow, Captain Underpants, Katniss Everdeen, and maybe even Dracula and Frankenstein (this could work with covers of the books they're from, but only books)

Movies would have Darth Vader, Indiana Jones, James Bond, Terminator, Robocop, Godzilla, Lucy, Shrek, Mr. Incredible, and Elsa.

Cartoons could have Steven Universe, Ben 10, Bill Cipher, Aang and/or Korra, Spongebob, Finn the human, Danny Phantom, Kim Possible, and Star Butterfly.

Live action TV could have Doctor Who, Jason Bourne, the Smoke Monster, Red Ranger, Sam Puckett, AdamConover, CW Flash, Supergirl, and/or Green Arrow (I'd go with Supergirl for a female representative), God from Supernatural, and Jesus from American Gods.

I don't know enough LNs and VNs to do those. I know of SAO, When They Cry, Masada's works, F/SN,

Keep in mind that these are just examples with the characters, and this is just a suggestion.

Not entirely what I meant, @Ant. You said it would be best if we touched up our main page. This is just a suggestion for how to do that. Besides, that changes with what's popular for the moment (note how the anime category is mostly DBS characters, or that the latest Death Battle influences how popular a character will get for the next two to three weeks), while my suggestion would be the iconic characters for our generation.

While this would be quite some work to make these, I don't mind doing it, though I'd definitely wouldn't mind some help.
 
Well, if you mean adding 10 large image links to the front page, to each of our main media categories, I think that it is a very bad idea, as it would take far too much room, and distract from the important information links.
 
Not as a link. And it could go somewhere else rather than in front of the information. Furthermore, the pictures can be combined into a single collage-like image, and we do need something to keep the interest and attention of those at the homepage.

If you want me to drop this btw, just say the word. It's just that I'm kinda proud of that idea.
 
But there are already 8 images at the top of all those category pages.

(I would prefer if you drop this, yes. It is not a practical idea to force Ryukama to design 10 more images that we cannot even use anywhere.)
 
@Cal Sort of like how the final fantasy page has an image showcasing all the heros and villans for each game?

One idea is to feature the (already existing) image at the top of the "Important Information" or "Notice: Help Wanted" sections at the bottom of the front page, but I am uncertain.
 
@Howard Well, it would nevertheless take up too much space for the current format of the front page.
 
I don't know. It seems like a waste of time if we cannot use them for anything anyway...

I don't think so, as long as they're properly sized and centered, I think it be fine.
 
Well, we obviously cannot use nearly as large images as the one at the top of this thread, and they would each have to contain a text saying "Manga", "Comics" "Books", "Games", etcetera.
 
The quality of the images would also have to be quite high.
 
Maybe a single extremely iconic game character in a small round image for the games category, and so onwards?

Anime - Goku

Books - Harry Potter

Cartoons - Maybe Steven Universe, Ben 10, or Korra?

Comics - Superman

Games - Mario

Light Novels - Perhaps some To Aru character?

Manga - Luffy

Movies - Darth Vader

TV Series - The Doctor

Visual Novels - Perhaps an Umineko or Masadaverse character?
 
Gwynbleiddd does have a point regarding our current format, so I am definitely not making any promises about massive layout changes.
 
I'm glad you like my image enough to want to use it elsewhere.

I think adding it to the "Characters" category would be alright. And then we add a few iconic anime characters for anime category, a few iconic comic characters for comic category, etc.
