Anyways, Lightning’s most in-character move is to float close up to physically electrocute his opponents, which is a terrible option because of Electabuzz’s resistance to Electric type moves, meaning that Lightning’s attacks would always do half his AP (468.6 kilotons). While Electabuzz also cant hurt Lightning with its Electric type moves due to Lightning being literally Lightning (nor can it paralyze him), it at least has moves other than its focused type so it can deal regular damage (such as
Fire Punch which can burn, or Ice Punch which can freeze, neither of which Lightning resists) to Lightning, and by spamming Meditate and Barrier it would be able to buff its attack and defense respectively by 4 times (up to 748.4 kilotons) while using Screech to lower Lightning’s defense by 4 times (234.3 kilotons), just enough to harm him whereas Lightning will do jackshit damage on Electabuzz.
While Lightning may be stronger and more durable, the fact he prefers to get up close to electrocute his opponents is a terrible idea, while Electabuzz is more experienced and is more versatile to a point of being able to turn the tides by buffing itself and debuffing Lightning while Being able to actually use moves aside from its Electric type ones.
