Roleplaying Discussion Thread 2

4 isn't it's lowest but it could be a lot higher with some key choices

Why are you people so obsessed with EWTRTW anyways
I mean, I don't think we are. It's just the most prevalent RP, and this is the RP discussion thread.

I'm trying my best in that regard

Probably

My mind is warping between trying to plunge Big Iron into a hell everyone can laugh at and actually somehow making it out of the current narrative and gameplay mess that it is

I want to make everyone hate me in an established way, not via this forkery

3 was at least short and didn't have enough going on for balance problems to arise and people to lose interest due to total incapacity for actions

1 had a lot of interesting stuff going on, so it's hard to match up to it.

I hope whatever Whynaut does for 5 really does wrap it up and do it justice,

I personally think there should be more tangible incentives for people to write good backstory, character development, and overall interesting builds or personalities, but I digress.

You know what

I don't feel like setting it up just for the joke, so I'll tell you what I was planning for EWTRTW 5 so you can yell at me now and enjoy WHYNAUT later

Basically, I was going to have all the setup, with the Meta thread saying something along the lines of

"Before we begin, note that this game will actively screw with expectations.

Pick whatever power doling method you prefer"

Then I'd have the meta set up, we'd get into the game, it would start out in the white room as always

Then, last second, instead of Joseph or whoever else gets the powers at the end of it all, a young dude sitting in a library greets everyone then tosses them into Something everyone has been forced into being familiar with

And then I just sit there and say "Any of you who want to immediately ragequit should do so"

And I then hope that no one actually continues beyond that point because that was the end of my plan for a joke, beyond maybe letting them go into their natural collateral methods and getting like, hundreds of Alsandairs on their rear end as I describe how absolutely forked they are

I need to restore my sanity

Well I do have the blogs on the verse page, so you can read up if you have any semblance of interest for whatever reason

Unfortunately all the RPs are on a service that killed your entire family before you were born so you won't be able to enjoy the various plot contrivances, holes and malformations that make up me trying to figure out a plot last second

Well, I think I'll keep the ideas I had in mind to myself, just in case I need to recycle some concepts for my own use later.

If I've learned anything, nobody will ever be prepared to be a GM, and that promises and optimism will never actually make you a good one

Professor Lord disagrees

It is a hell of a job though, especially if you have real life obligations on top of everything else.

I'm glad I somehow stuck through all those threads in EWtRtW 1 though, even if it was pretty hard.

No pressure.
