Rocky vs Ippo

Ippo should win imo. Rocky, though he has a tough jaw/chin, has a weakness of not blocking much, and Ippo is known for smashing people to bits with his destructive power. Not only that, but Ippo is capable of fighting people outside his own weight class and has WAY more of an arsenal in terms of the variety of his punches. Basically he has a lot more "weapons" at his disposal and can function well in several different situations, whereas Rocky won't be able to keep up in like half of those.

Ippo is a very tactical fighter who hits extremely hard for his weight class and is ridiculously fast. Rocky has very poor technical skills for a boxer and relies heavily on outlasting his opponents. Since Ippo has comparable durability and stamina, his speed and attack power will leave Rocky out cold rather quickly.

Voting Ippo

Ippo is being overrated as hell here, Rocky took punches from Ivan Drago who punches strong as the bite of a silver back gorilla, in Rocky III he showed amazing speed, could smash the ribs of a robust bovine meat, that is amazingly strong, thick and dense bones, strong meat in there, is a superhuman feat to do that so easily when normal humans would probably break their hands in there.

Rocky knocked out Clubber Lang and Drago that were clearly superhuman in their primes, and could punch at strengths that could even harm some large animals, Drago could maybe even harm or kill a adult lion with that punches pretty easily, Clubber Lang was a rocking machine, he had bursts of power like a leopard.

Ippo is showed to do some fancy anime like feats, but they were all those laughable script stupidity for dramatic effect, and even if he used that Balboa would always get up specially if he was bloodlusted, and wouldn't stop hitting with brutality and skill until Ippo was out.

@DZ And yet his ultimate strategy for defeating Apollo Creed was "I'm gonna get the shit beat out of me until Apollo is too tired to move."

This is not only downplaying Ippo's feats, it's also dismissing them as "laughable script stupidity" instead of explaining WHY they aren't valid. Ippo who also has show Superhuman feats before, on the same level as Drago, who, as you noted, required a long fight against Rocky. For all his power, Rocky isn't above them really and mostly wins his fight through endurance.
