Rick and Morty Revision

During Episode 8, we see many deleted memories of Morty's, and during those, we see that:

- Morty, with motivational help, manages to get rid of a Mind Manipulative parasitic being through willpower.

- Rick can extract and contain memories in small containers using a machine.

Morty should receive Mental Resistance and RIck should receive Memory Manipulation (w/ Memory Gun, which is also a invention)

I suppose that this seems reasonable.

Doesn't the very fact that Morty required motivational help contradict his willpower? He even started to become repossessed once his family began mocking him. In fact, one of the plot points is that Morty had Rick erase certain memories because he couldn't deal with the reality of the situation.

Morty couldn`t deal with SOME of them, such as killing people and the fact that Squirrels are op, others Rick wanted removed and some others are completely random. That is also showcased on the episode, in fact, some memories include mistakes of Rick and Morty correcting him. Just a insight, nothing to add here.

Heck, Morty was reactionless for most of the memories after he sees them, at most he said "Damn, I killed that guy...". Some Vincent Vega levels of reaction right there.

When Morty lost focus and became angry, thats when the parasite came back. And even then, it was still Mental Resistance to some points. Words dont stop Mental Control, Morty's will after receiving support is what stopped it. "You can do it".

Perhaps I'm looking at the situation too much like a Green Lantern fan but I still think Morty himself is too insecure to "willpower" himself for Mental Resistance. Take the episode "Rest and Ricklaxation" as an example. Morty, without his toxic self, I could see having mental resistance because his personality seems kind of similar to evil Morty. His toxic self though represents everything bad that is going on inside him. I'm not saying Morty won't overcome his insecurities one day, and I would like to see that happen much like Adult swim's Moral Orel, but if we look at the feat as it is presented, I say the it seems like an outlier IMO.

@Heatforce

Good point.

Rick can still get memory manipulation though.

Looking back at it, it does seem like an outlier, but Morty's insecurities have pretty much vanished in Season 3. He is shown a smarter, cunning, Rick-like. I can only remember two moments when he was TRULY dumb. Rewatch the Vindicators episode. He led them through puzzles and perils with Rick's name on it. Or during the Roller Coaster episode, when he wasnt afraid or insecure about tricking Rick OR standing up for his sister. I wouldnt say Morty is insecure anymore and he has already surpassed that. His toxic self barely has a place to actually operate.

That said, there isnt much of a reason for Morty to actually have Mental Resistance, considering that in other occasions his mind was tempered with and he had none.

Also Episode 9.

The first thing we see is a new Bubble Gun which appears to render Morty and Summer with no air to breathe and without the possibility of moving.

Beth is quite smart and similar to her father in a sense, should get a updated Intelligence.

Jerry has low level telekinesis that he learned from having sexual intercourse with an alien.

That should give Jerry telekinesis with specifications that it is actually really bad, Beth should get a page with the toys her father created to her considering she actually has a intersting set of weapons and uses them well since she was a kid and Rick gets ANOTHER invention that renders enemies without being able to move or breathe.

I am not sure if Jerry is important enough to get his own page, but it isn't like that has stopped anybody before.

Hey, at least he actually has feats (even if low) and stats that could be actually precisely measured (EHEM).
