I mean, they can be embodiments without having the ability to regen based on their concept. They'd just not be abstracts based on it.
Think of a God who is the literal embodiment of war itself, being omnipresent wherever there is war, and his entire existence being based on whether war exists or not.
Such a being could still plausibly be slayed without requiring the erasure of war itself. His status quo would just need be passed onto whoever killed him, or onto his fellow gods.
