That is the 3D conterpart of the LLT, not its true 1-A self, so Dio should have no problems.

Also, I'd like clarification on it being "Merc's suicide weapon" seeing as Merc doesn't want Reinhard to kill him.

Merc wants Marie to kill him, to die in her arms. That's the deepest craving of his soul. The moment Reinhard had served his purpose to switch Marie from Gudou to Hadou, and Ren has poured his emotions into her or whatever, he literally tells them both that "actors whose roles have finished should leave the stage"
