Records of VsBattles Match 1 of 13 - Jaune Arc vs Alfred, Hunter of Vilebloods

Looking at this fight, this is actually a pretty easy win for jaune, Alfred's weapon relies heavily on being on equal footing with the opponent as it drains HP in exchange for power and then heals Alfred when he hurts his opponent. Jaune can just amp his aura to the point that Alfred just hurts himself trying to hit him like he did to Cardin. Jaune outskills Alfred in general combat so the rest of his weapons and combat skill wont really do much, and his reserve of healing items is limited

I can't believe I'm defending Alfred but I am decently knowledgeable in Bloodborne. The Kirkhammer has a secondary mode which is essentially just a sword. It's not that heavy and if he realizes that using the hammer mode is a bad idea, he'll probably switch off.

Also Alfred has a gun. Normally RWBY characters can also turn their weapons into a gun but for some reason, Jaune is stuck with a sword

Alfred has regen and range advantage, but Jaune has a x3 AP is basically the tl;dr I'm seeing here

yeah, but its just a rifle, Jaune can just block with his shield
And he can keep shooting. NPCs never run out of ammo

In fact, breaking a defending opponent's defense is commonplace in Bloodborne. They usually use a gun or their weapon in close range to do so and it usually staggers their opponent and when someone is staggered...

They get fisted

OP should make the arena neutral. Having the fight take place in a location one side knows is unfair.

I'd like to know feats from both sides before making a verdict, although it looks like Alfred is more skilled going by the profiles.

If I recall correctly in Record of Ragnarok manga (the inspiration for this tourney), there was a match where one of the fighters was given a blatant home advantage. Honestly, giving a home advantage to the character who got chosen randomly seems like a decent deal and it's not like they get god-like powers from being there

So basically Alfred most likely have a skill advantage unless Jaune get some actual good skillfeat that doesn't rely on his teammates but Jaune have higher AP, is that correct?

At the bottom of the skill chain is aura users as a whole. While every living being in RWBY technically has Aura, actually being able to utilize it for things such as defense, regen, and senses requires years of training and a high enough degree of martial skill (and yes you actually need martial skill for it) that only a small percentage of the population of the entire planet ever become skilled enough to utilize their aura. Of that small percentage, an even smaller percentage ever become skilled enough to manifest/control a Semblance (yes semblances are also skill-based). To reach this small percentage comes to the second half of the bottom of the chain: Almost every character worth their salt in RWBY has spent their entire life training in combat and can fight hordes of Grimm with little issue (Almost because Jaune exists). The entirety of the main cast of RWBY was initially enrolled at Beacon Academy, one of the most prestigious combat schools in the world, with almost everyone who was accepted there having been trained for almost their entire life to fight monsters, and each one that was not professionally trained requiring a skill display overseen by Ozpin, who has the composite skill of several thousand professional huntsmen that he accumulated over his immortal lifetime.

Thats the baseline for skill in the verse.

Before the Beacon Arc Ruby had been personally trained by her uncle Qrow in combat and as a result she was noted as always excelling above her peers in combat training. At the start of the series Ruby was at a level of skill that even though she was two years away from being eligible to join Beacon she was admitted due her combat prowess impressing Ozpin, with him noting that she was already a master at wielding one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed. In combat Ruby is capable of taking on entire hordes of Grimm on her own and walking away without a scratch and utilizing the different functionalities of the Crescent Rose, such as the massive recoil from the rifle aspect of the weapon and the weapon's transformative capabilities, in tandem with each other and her Semblance in order to maintain an edge over her opponent. Basically every named character is around this level of skill in the early seasons.

Now for Velvet. Velvet is able to perfectly and instantly mimic the exact moves that she observes other people use in combat as well as utilize multiple different fighting styles simultaneously, both armed and unarmed. Thanks to Anesidora, Velvet is also able to copy fighting styles that utilize weapons, and she is able to wield the weapons that she copies just as effectively as their original user. To date that we know of, Velvet is able to simultaneously utilize the fighting styles and weapons of Ruby Rose, Yang Xiao Long, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, Nora Valkyrie, Sun Wukong, Penny Polendina, Coco Adel, Peter Port, Reese Chloris, Fox Alistar, Vega Bleu, Yatsuhashi Daichi, Russel Thrush, Roy Stallion, Neptune Vasilias, Brawnz Ni, Bartholomew Oobleck, Flynt Coal, Edward Caspian, and Scarlet David. Of note, every person listed spent their entire lives training in combat and several of them are professional huntsmen with decades of combat experience.

Moving up the chain we have Nebula Violette, who not only outmatched Velvet in a 1v1 test of martial arts skill, but was directly stated to be more skilled than Velvet in combat despite Velvet mixing numerous fighting styles to try to throw her off in their fight.

Above her is Pyrrha Nikos, the skill god of the Beacon Arc. Pyrrha is one of the most skilled students at Beacon Academy, having won every combat tournament she has entered since she was a pre-teen due to both her mastery of combat and mastery of her semblance, being able to apply it in combat completely undetected and having done so in almost every fight she's been in for over a decade, doing so with such skill and precision that she has lead many to believe she is untouchable and invincible as no one has been able to even land a blow on her in her combat career. Even without her semblance she has shown the ability to quickly and easily adapt to her combat situation and analyze her opponents while fighting and changing tactics to suit the situation she is in. She has shown extreme accuracy, being able to hit moving targets from hundreds of meters away and strike vital weak points on an opponent mid-combat both with and without the aid of her semblance. She is also highly skilled at using her weapon's multiple forms in combat, being able to switch between forms several times in rapid succession to both deliver rapid attacks and counter others simultaneously.

Then theres Mercury. Mercury is a veritable master of close combat, having spent his entire life training in pure martial combat to make up for his Semblance being stolen by his father. He is shown to be a very acrobatic and agile fighter who relies upon quickly overpowering his opponent with complex kicks that imply a near-mastery of martial arts that resemble Tae-Kwon-Do. He is also capable of a break-dancing style, similar to Capoeira, and makes use of Muay Thai as well. Despite his focus on kicks, Mercury also uses his hands to grapple, block or redirect enemy attacks. His experience and skill are aggressive and effective enough to drive even fighters of a high caliber, like Pyrrha, into a defensive position, with Word of God confirming that Mercury would defeat her if he fought her seriously. Due to his fighting style, Mercury relies on his swift and quick reflexes to counter and block his opponent's attacks as first demonstrated during his fight with Yang Xiao Long, altering the course of her punches and using his footwork to raise her fists and kick underneath or around her attacks. Despite the presumed awkwardness of his weapon's ranged capabilities he is a skilled marksman, able to shoot a phone out of a person's hand from a good distance away, and is proficient at using the many different forms of projectiles at his disposal to keep his opponents off balance. Mercury is also known to be observant, tactical, and analytical, able to notice and deduce the capabilities and limits of Pyrrha's Polarity Semblance after she uses it once during their brief fight, despite Pyrrha using it extremely subtly in combat and having spent her entire life honing her ability to hide her Semblance and its mechanics from her opponents and the general public.

Tldr Post Haven jaune can match people who can match Mercury and people on mercury's level

That is pretty impressive. There is however 1 problem. He's a main character in a series infamous for bad writing. Are you sure none of his skill feats are related to PIS?

Literally none of that is PiS wtf
Like hate the writing all you want but don't downplay just because you don't like the series

Also alfred's visceral attack won't really work due to jaune's aura as it relies on being able to punch into the opponent and rip out their organs and jaune well has a forcefield around him at all times protecting him unless he does enough damage from multiple hits to break his aura like a health bar, which is highly unlikely given jaune's aura durability is even higher then his base durability that's 9.94 tons and jaunes ap advantage

Most of the tactics in Bloodborne involve dodging and attacking at any given moment and then performing large attacks in openings, hence why all main weapons have a 2 handed mode. The kirkhammer is a trick weapon which means it's perfect for the first part of wearing down an opponent until they can be smashed with its 2 handed mode and staggered before getting shot or hit with another attack. Hunters are very efficient in whittling down an enemy's health

In terms of reliable scaling, he has fought off the Cleric Beast and Blood-Starved Beast alongside the hunter

Here is the boss fight as well as a showcase of how a Bloodborne character fights

One last thing to note is that Alfred has participated in a great war against Cainhurst Vilebloods due to the nature of his job as a church executioner. The fact that he survived said war all the way to be met by the hunter is also pretty impressive, especially when the vilebloods have people like Lady Maria in their ranks

Just in case, I had to know.

Sorry
It's alright, it's just dumb to call it PIS, Jaune and the rest of the cast had to go through multiple training arcs to get to that level of skill

On top of being personally mentored by some of the most skilled people on the planet, including qrow who Mercury is scared to fight
Anyways I'll get back to debate your points you made

"Most of the tactics in Bloodborne involve dodging and attacking at any given moment and then performing large attacks in openings, hence why all main weapons have a 2 handed mode. "

The problem with that is that 99% ofthe people you fight in bloodborne use full offense and dont have many ways to defend themselves outside of dodging. Jaune can not only dodge but has a shield to protect himself, and he has an absurdly high health pool with his aura that alfred's would have to whittle through before he can even start to hurt jaune.

Theres no proof that he actually fought those people though, otherwise he'd be tier 5. At best he fought other Hunters comparable to himself as well as the Beasts, which aren't much different from the Grimm that jaune fights on a daily basis.

Bloodborne has weird scaling in general so let's not use scaling as a reason against the fact that he should be comparable to Martyr Logarius who logically killed Vilebloods given that he led the slaughter of them and is STILL somehow High 8-C.

I read on Jaune's profile that his Aura's gets weaker the more he takes hits. Is there a point of reference for numbers or duration, or the like?

Jaune in the verse is one of the characters who has a very large quantity of Aura, i can't say how much hits you need to take down his Aura, but i can assure you that Alfred is not capable of that

Eileen, a 5-A can die to Henryk, a High 8-C. Seriously, Eileen needs a first key. I think she's the only one who has this problem

"I read on Jaune's profile that his Aura's gets weaker the more he takes hits. Is there a point of reference for numbers or duration, or the like?"

Going by the fights in the series (and yes, these were actually counted by
Me) it takes between 30 to 40 solid hits from an opponent of equal strength to take down a normal person's aura. Not only is Jaune 2.5x more durable than alfred's AP, but he has an absurdly high aura health pool compared to the average user. It would take well over 100 direct, solid hits for alfred to get through his aura. And then Jaune would still be 2.5x more durable, have a means of defense, and would be more skilled.

Like unlike most of the characters, we barely see juanes aura ever break, it only broke because he was basically one shot by a small town level mech slapping him even when he amped his own aura and Nora's aura to protect her and him

Yeah fun fact I'm pretty sure RWBY characters at their strongest high 8-C keys are the second strongest high 8-C's on the wiki
