Question about stated time frames and extraterrestrial beings.

If an alien or other types of extra terrestrial beings stated it would take an "hour" or a "day" or a "year" to go from their planet to earth (and this is relevant for calculating someone's speed), do we just assume that their definition of time measurements is the same as ours?
