Time Eater time traveled to when Sonic and Tails weren't scattered and flew around and there was no sign of Eggman controlling him and he time traveled again.

Yes, I know the final boss battle showed that Time Eater was controlled by Classic Eggman and Modern Eggman though Time Eater did flew and time travel on his own. Who knows how Classic and Modern Eggman managed to control him.


So upgrading it's intelligence from mindless to at least "Supergenius" or "Nigh-Omniscient" or Omniscient is reasonable since it didn't need Eggman to time travel and fly around on its own until it got controlled by 2 Eggman's. I think it's due to plot induced stupidity.

actually Eggman mentioned that he found him straight after he lost in colors and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't attack sonic randomly and then destroy the space-time. Eggman wants Sonic's head and given that he has enough prep to control it eventually

Which cutscene shows that Eggman found him somewhere? Link please to a specific time in the Youtube video.

On the other hand Eggman wasn't visible when Time Eater scattered Sonic's friends and Eggman himself got kidnapped by the Time Eater.

He wasn't visible =/= it acted on its own as he is covered by the shadow of the being so you can't see him but he is the one piloting it

I get it now but that doesn't explain how Classic Eggman and Modern Eggman got kidnapped by the Time Eater itself. In the final boss fight 2 Eggmans were controlling the Time Eater. So maybe at least 1 Eggman to control the Time Eater if not 2 Eggmans or on it's own?

Who knows? Maybe Classic Eggman controlled the Time Eater to scatter Sonic's friends at the beginning then later on Modern Eggman used the Time Eater to grab Classic Eggman after he was defeated by Classic Sonic. Also I think that Classic Eggman used the Time Eater to grab Modern Eggman after he was defeated by Modern Sonic.

For now I will leave it to the admins to say what they think.

maybe they were tag teaming say after modern egg man kidnapped classic egg man he tried to trick the hedgehog thinking that he wasn't the culprit by making the time eater "kidnap" modern egg man when it was classic piloting the time eater and they escaped

Good speculation. Now I think it's safer to assume that Time Eater can be controlled by 1 Eggman at a time while 2 Eggmans can utilize the Time Eater's potential to speedblitz any Verse as long as they don't have characters with Immeasurable and or Irrelevant speed to cancel out the Time Eater.
