Pokemon Tournament 8-A edition; round 6: Grimer vs Litwick

Well, this is a interestimg fight, Litwick will passively drain grimer life force with his candle, but grimer will bew duplicating himself just by sliding in the battle field, both haver great moves to damage and put status effects in one another, but I think I will go with Grimer by duplication, Poison and better moveset tô dell with the candle

Litwick pokedex entrys:
BlackLitwick shines a light that absorbs the life energy of people and Pokémon, which becomes the fuel that it burns.
WhiteWhile shining a light and pretending to be a guide, it leeches off the life force of any who follow it.
Black 2
White 2
Its flame is usually out, but it starts shining when it absorbs life force from people or Pokémon.
X
Omega Ruby

Y
Alpha Sapphire

SwordThe flame on its head keeps its body slightly warm. This Pokémon takes lost children by the hand to guide them to the spirit world.
ShieldThe younger the life this Pokémon absorbs, the brighter and eerier the flame on its head burns.

I'm not sure if Grimer Duplicates fast enough.
But that aside, Litwick kinda has some advantages. It resists Grimer's STAB due to Ghost Resisting Poison, will have a 30% chance of burning Grimer on contact with Flame Body.
Moves like Hex, Curse, Will-O-Wisp, Confuse Ray & Pain Split also seem both in-character & potent for Litwick, which could make things difficult for Grimer.

Idk if Liteick would be even able to fight smelling grimmer for the looks of the pokedex
A lot of Litwick's moves are Ranged, though, & its profile lists it as having Levitation, so couldn't it just fly upwards away from Grimer's stench? It's stated as smelling too bad to touch, so just get out of touch range.
Also, due to Flame Body, attacking in close range is dangerous for Grimer, too.

Well, grimmer can also poison litwick by touching It thanks to poison touch that seen more dangerous in this case
Grimmer has a lot of options to deal with long range, moves like poison gas could end the battle to liteick sinse grimmer can outlast without Much problem and coukd use moves like acid spray to make flame body disapear, and he has atacks like mud-slap and fling to make for the range and type efectiviness

And we stille have thee multiplication problem

Yes, but given Litwick's options, would it really go into touch range?

Pain Split can actually help deal with Poison & might be in-character as a way to steal life force. Light Manipulation being in-character might mean Confuse Ray would be in-character early, which could hinder Grimer using Poison Gas early.
and coukd use moves like acid spray to make flame body disapear,
You're thinking of Gastro Acid, which a Kantonian Grimer like the one in this match doesn't learn.
Acid Spray is a 40 base power damaging move that drops the victim's Sp. Def by 2 stages; Acid Spray wouldn't get rid of Flame Body.
and he has atacks like mud-slap and fling to make for the range and type efectiviness
Unsure if Mud-Slap makes the range, plus, it might be less in-character since it's throwing dirt instead of actual sludge. (& it isn't the strongest move to begin with.)
Night Shade, Shadow Ball, Inferno, Heat Wave, etc. aren't Super-Effective, but they are strong.
And we stille have thee multiplication problem
But these Grimers are formed from drops of the original Grimer. So even assuming a combat applicable timeframe, since they're likely very new, & not as strong as the original, & may not have much starting mass to go off of.
Also, it happens as Grimer loses parts of its body, which not all of Litwick's moves may trigger (Night Shade is illusions, several others would be fire.).

Arguably, Flame Burst is useful here, since it hits the main target, & does splash damage to anything adjacent.

Not to mention Heat Wave hits all targets, so even if Grimer multiplies, Litwick has a reliable way to damage all of them, especially when Heat Wave is a pretty strong move for it to learn

Hum... Fair, changing votes to the candle

So the conclusion is Litwick leaves range, makes spooky lights, & burns away Grimer's Sludge, stealing life with Pain Split as need be (Especially if any Grimer droplets -If they appear in a quick enough timeframe- are healthy enough for that & especially since they may be weak/low mass enough that they can be burned away quickly.) to win?
Or something like that?

If so, I agree & vote Litwick given those reasons.
