One Piece Discussion Thread #5

It's actually headcanon for me that Marco's awakening is his ability to share his regenerative properties with others and it was only after the war of Marineford with death of both his captain (Whitebeard) and his fellow commander (Ace) that his Devil Fruit Awakens for the first time due to the violent mental trauma of letting them die Awakens his Devil Fruit.
It is kinda sad that he could have potentially save both if he just Awaken his Devil Fruit power earlier.
I would actually be pretty disappointed if Whitebeard's right hand man didn't awaken his devil fruit until after the war. Katakuri made it seem like it's something you should just expect.

Making a few calcs about a page from chapter 906 made me think that the Red Line is wider than taller. I mean... I've got a 2km long stairsways.

Edit: Scaling the Earth shown in the episode 908 and with the 2521.9m to scale the Red Line width (obviously lowballing because that's stairsways extension) threw me 35.306km circunference.

Robin looks so gorgeous on Vol. 91 cover!

As for Zoro's opponent, while I think there's a strong chance it could be either King or Orochi, I'd prefer if it was Orochi. It hinges on what kind of character the Shogun will be when he's finally introduced. If he's a serious character and also the current strongest samurai in Wano, then there's no doubt it's going to be him. But if he turns out to be a joke, then it'll be Zoro vs. King.

Probably because giraffes and cows are from a similar genetic family. Not sure.

But foxs, wolfs and coyotes are all cans so the Dog Dog fruit is correct.

Actually Giraffes belong to the family Giraffidae while Domestic Cows belong to the family Bovidae. They're both Even-Toed Ungulates but that's an order not a family.

Laboon
This is also an even-toed ungulate, despite not having toes.

Maybe the reason there hasn't been a water manipulating DF is because it's like DF krptonite man

Fishman only. Minks are mammals.

An Island Whale Fishman would be nice to see. I don't know why Oda hasn't brought these up yet.

Whales are mammals, but they would fit in as Fishmen since they seem to be any aquatic animal.

Right, but for some reason we haven't seen any no-ground mammal turned Mink like bats or dolphins. It's highly doubtful.

Maybe there's a sub-specie for those kind of people like Merminks.

If we have fishmen based on creatures that only exist in the OP world, then I think it's safe to say there are minks based on real world bats.

Wasn't one of Foxy's crew part Fishman part giant

That was interesting to have cross breed species

Just finishing rereading Punk Hazard and thinking about Law's soul switching crap, I honestly have a scary idea if a organization like the Marines was to obtain the power of the Law's Op-Op Fruit.

Now, the Op-Op Fruit can switch people's souls right. So what if a person in the Marines set up a system where the old and crippled veteran Marines can get new bodies by switching their souls with the prisioners of Impel Down, preferably Level 6 who are physically strong or have poweful Devil Fruits or even both. It even stated on the One Piece Wiki that the effect of the Op-Op Fruit persists even if the user is rendered unconscious or restrained with Seastone.

Also, it would be great for infiltration of massive organization like if you capture someone of major important, let's say the Baroque Works, the person can switch the soul of one of those Cipher Pols agent guy with the captured person and bam! They have a perfecr disguise to sneak in and it would be impossible for anyone to detect it normally. No wonder the Fruit is called the Op-Op Fruit because it is legitmatively OP. Another reason why it's called the Ultimate Devil Fruit.

I wonder if there's a Human-Human Fruit: Model Mink.
What that be like? and what if it was eaten by a mink?
It would be the same as if a Human ate the Human Human Fruit; they would gain enlightment.

I remember a theory where it was said that Chopper actually ate the Hito Hito Model Mink but there's evidence enough to say that he didn't.

I think if that were the case we would have been told that right away. If I uderstand what CP9 was talking about you automatically learn a devil fruits name after eaing it.

Still that would explain why his "human form" looks so not-human.

That's only if you know what's the fruit about. If you don't know what a Mink is then there's little to no evidence that you would know that fruit even exists.
