Narutoforums: Broken Links

Status
Not open for further replies.
Found this method out on the Asura stats thread, thought I'd share it here.

Basically just find the old URL, for example, this: www.narutoforums.com/blog.php?bt=190782

Then copy the last numbers in the link (26509).

http://www.narutoforums.com/xfa-blog-entry/xxxxx/

Copy this sample URL and paste the numbers from the old URL over the x marks.

http://www.narutoforums.com/xfa-blog-entry/26509/

It will then redirect you to that blog.

As you can see in the example I gave, this will work for deleted blogs as well. In this case, Vivi's.

EDIT: As far as I can tell this only works with blogs that have 5 digits in the last bit of their URL. Although I think every blog only has 5 digits, or at least the vast majority, so it should be fine.

Big thanks to everybody who have explained the best ways to replace the links, and to all who help out with doing so.

Nice find, this shall be useful in recovering links.

Could someone help me find this one. I tired everything and still can't find it. Thank you. It's for Yamamoto Genryusai's Continent level AP.

I tried finding the title and blog poster in the Narutoforums as well, but could not get any results.

Insert the Google cache link, as a last resort, I suppose.

@Alakabamm: That calculation places Yamamoto at Country level, not Continent level. The minimum value for that is 2.2 teratons.

Well, the thing is, I think the link to the petaton one is actually a comment not a blog. That is why it says "bt" instead of "b" in the URL. So I'm thinking it may be possible to find the actual original blog.

201 teratons is High 6-B. The google cache version is much lower than that. I think that the Web Archive version is probably correct. We simply switched to a new energy scale, and nobody likely remembered to check up update Yamamoto's ranking accordingly.

We could just use the Web Archive version otherwise. It should be fine.

So, I've come across these. Can someone have these looked at?

Profiles with non-working links:

http://www.narutoforums.com/xfa-blog-entry/21039 (Akira Kongou)

https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/The_Destroyer (all links don't work)

http://www.narutoforums.com/xfa-blog-entry/17302 (Leviathan)

https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/Metroid_(verse) (Space Pirate and Leviathan calc)

http://www.narutoforums.com/xfa-blog-entry/17354 (Clare)

https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/Ridley (link replaced doesn't work)

https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/Mother_Brain_(Metroid) (link replaced doesn't work)

Edit: Using the method that LordX posted, it seems that even with replacing the old links to the new one, some blogs just aren't showing up. I have personally tested the non-working links at the time, and the blogs that do not exist in the new website also do not exist in the Wayback Archives or Google Cache as well.

If you find any new blogs that don't exist in the new NF website, but exist in the Google cache or in the wayback archives (WA), it would be incredibly helpful for you guys to replace the links with the ones from Google cache/WA.

Did everything on the top list besides the "bt" link on Toriko's profile

I couldn't help any of the others and Ridleys has been dead for months

List of articles I found that were locked. I gave the updated links so somebody can change those.

Wbaez93 told me that:

"The blog links with the termination "php?t" don't work with the "xfa-blog-entry/" link.

This is the one that works with it: "php?b" "

Does anybody know how to solve the problem with "php?t"?

Yeah, I first thought that the links were just dead, but then I noticed that they ended with "t" instead of "b".

So, I think that the ones that end with "t" don't work with the "xfa-blog-entry/" link. (I tried with 5 "t" ones and none of them worked, kinda strange)

Do you have any suggestions LordXcano?
Unfortunately no. As Crazy showed the number at the end is different too. It's likely ones with ?bt were just changed completely.

However, perhaps we could have a thread where we post links with the ?bt ending so others can try to search for the calc. I'll try to find a way to update those in the meantime.

Well, it depends on if you think that it is necessary, or if we should handle it here?

Well, we took backups of almost all of his calculations before that happened. I linked to the thread featuring them at the bottom of the front page of this wiki.

Here is a thread with backups for most of them: https://vsbattles.com/vsbattles/244251

I think that it is a bit selfish to delete all of them, rather than just quit and leave them be though, as it destroys for everybody else in the community.

Oh well, he made them, so it is up to him though.

I agree.
