My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

I watched it
It was a nice original episode and shame that we probably don’t consider canon
Since Amajiki survives a big explosion from Bakugo point blank.

Also Shoto gets a good decent feat with his casual half cold I still don’t think it would be better than his lake freeze regardless though.
Acknowledging Amajiki surviving Bakugo's explosion is also acknowledging that Bakugo's IQ is the same as the temperature of Shoto's ice this episode.

I know people find angry Bakugo being violent as funny but that wasn't something Bakugo would do at least at this point of the series.

I also was kinda surprised, it seemed like something S2 Bakugo would do
Sure he’d be disappointed but dumping a ton of tnt or more on someone’s chest point blank over holding back is a bit much

I was never a fan of the concept since I’d rather get 26 eps of content unless bones thought they want to end on a specific chapter and having 1 more ep ruins that
But I liked S4 and this Seasons filler eps
They’re kinda harmless
They are, but they're also meaningless episodes pretty much

We already know all these characters after 5 Seasons

I think season 4 at least had a solid premise with how it handled it, with a surprisingly interesting anime-only subplot, but season 5 not so much.

I only watched the ending of the fight and saw that Nejire was already captured while Amajiki takes the spotlight more.
Which is par the course for Nejire and female characters in general within this series lol

If I recall correctly all Nejire did this ep was shatter Shoto's ice with her 30% which is
Yikes I hoped she would do more

I'm all for a movie with large stakes but this is also kinda confusing. The movie is conveniently placed during the time skip but I doubt it'll be referenced in the manga anyways.

They seem to be reusing elements from Chisaki's philosophy and Ujiko's theory. Also their grand plan is basically what was happening in Vigilantes except it's in a massive scale.

You know what does my heart good? Seeing Horikoshi directly tell people where Heroes Rising takes place

Apparently, there is a Volume R, released in Japan for people that went to go watch the first viewings of the movie. In that volume, Horikoshi directly says the movie takes place after Joint Training, that he was the one who decided the entire story line for it regardless of what his editor said, and that Bakugo’s transfer failed because the Predecessors chose to stay with Deku, not because he went unconscious.

The interview in Japanese

The Twitter account that translated some of the interview with Horikoshi.

Anyone wanna debate whether that movie is canon or not?

That depends solely on whether he can take hits and harm him. If he can't, I'd say mid diff with all his quirks getting past his power. If he can harm muscular through his fibers, he might just stomp.

I mean Deku is legit calm af. I’m sure first he’s gonna try and reasons with him (ofc it ain’t gonna work)

then Deku proceeds to beat the shit out of him. Then Yo ends up losing his gf because she thought how cool Deku was

Him saying the fourth's gift "wouldn't shut up" and having All Might's pitch black eyes with only his pupils visible gives me an indication he's at least somewhat aggravated.
I'm betting Deku is gonna have a hard time doing any sort of damage unless Muscular got weaker or 45% is closer in power to 100% than I think
That's the current dilemma. He just sent Muscular flying back, while he was in full muscle fiber form, with air pressure. So depending on what happens in the next few chapters, either we don't have a scaling issue, or 45% is absolutely jacked.

I dunno how exactly is Deku supposed to reason with Muscular though. If Deku says something that Muscular doesn't like, he'll just do the opposite of what Deku wants him to do.

Deku: So, Muscular, let's fight elsewhere where there's only the two of us.
Muscular: goes to Taguchi building and turns the citizens into meatizens

As for how the fight would go, I predict Deku would outpace him with his speed and break down his defenses slowly. Muscular won't land a hit. Hopefully Deku will pull some creative moves to beat him.

What kind of training has muscular been doing in prison? I do not remember him being this damn huge against Deku round 1. Maybe he was holding back then? Either way, Muscular should probably get Large Size type 0 or 1 with Muscle Augmentation.

If you look in his jail cell for chapter 297, you can see he was beating against the walls. So he actually might have been getting stronger while in Tartarus.

Can’t wait for next weeks chapter man
Can’t wait for Deku to slap muscular around

The talk between Shindo and the old guy I also really liked about this chapter

Deku's talking smack now, I kinda hope he's overall more cynical

Muscular: “You can’t beat me again!”

Deku: “**** off”

Muscular: “...Ok now I’m scared”

Something I've always wanted to see Deku have was a little more swagger or "finesse" and I'm glad that he's probably going to start getting that.

Nah, it was probably from the building or just some random crap thrown in by Hori for cool visual affects. There was a LOT of rubble caused by Muscular and Deku's attack. I highly doubt it was some kind of quirk doing that. But if that was the case I'd be pretty interested in the applications for that and thinking about what he could do under a smoke screen + danger sense to make sure he's not getting lost in the smoke.

Wait, okay something just hit my mind. AFO since "adopting" Shigaraki has been picking out quirks that he thinks would fit Shiggy's style and personality, right? The problem is, why would he be doing that if his plan was to steal his body and take over his consciousness anyways?
