My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

I mean, at least it's understandable in RWBY's case: they never quite figured out where they wanted to take it...
I know it's off topic but their MHS Feat is literal aim dodging and the lightning came from the clouds 1km away ok back on topic
Yeah even in their final parts writers always make mistakes, and some of them at the biggest of moments.
I'm not mad at Horikoshi if this happens how we think it's going, if I dont like how it ends then I dont like how it ends, but I'm not gonna crucify him.
I'll enjoy the parts I enjoy, disagree with the parts I disagree with, and if I feel as if the end product (or the series as a whole) is better than it's faults then I'll keep supporting it.
Like I mean the final arc of Naruto was ass, from what people say the Buu arc was ASS, but we still enjoy the series as a whole.

I decided to come back to this thread after months of not commenting at all until I saw Twitter today and holy shit...

It's over.

It's time for me to drop this and read something else.
Read Im: The Great Priest Imhotep. It's a short manga series with 45 chapters even though a few of them are skippable. It is a great story with a great cast of characters. You'll probably love it like I just did.

seriously, is this so bad?
here they are for you make sacrifices to forgotten gods
how are you there?
I have been concerned about Horikoshi's writing ever since last October and was tripping over how he'd handle the second war arc after all I had seen. The fact that it had gone decently for so long in spite of all of its potential vulnerabilities is something for me to commend.

Unfortunately, as I expected, Horikoshi has given up control over his series once again.

since the estimate mentions separate series
Has anyone seen Crimson Ragna?
It starts something cliché but improves a million percent in chapter 2.
great deeds and great fights and strange characters
(but mostly a lot of dialogue)
seriously too much dialogue.
57 chapters released is still in broadcast and with an anime for 2023

All I see is people coping and seething over some peak-writing. I knew people were going to get angry over the leaks, but DAMN! Might as well grab the popcorn.

Won't catch me dealing with this shit storm tho...

Besides even if he wanted to it isnt like he can do shit, have we forgotten that the japenese audience has so much power over shonen jump that he cant do things that would cause his sales to drop or HE'D be dropped from writing.
And Japan LOVES Bakugou (popularity poles show that)

Ngl.

Some of the responses I've been seeing here are hilarious. It's even funnier when you realize that it's simply over a panel.

This is the gift that keeps on giving. It's gonna be a good night!

In that case then Horikoshi could have simply decided to not kill Bakugo in the first place. Nobody held a gun to his head to force him to make such decisions, he might have actually thought that all of this was a good idea. You don't know anything about his life nor do I.

Fair, I'm just saying none of us should have held our breathe when it came to him dying.
But question here doesnt the mangaka's editor actually have some control over what they can and can't write? Like not complete control but some

Unless the writers themselves let them or if they have support from on high, no they don't.

Here's an exceprt from the summary.
Cut to Washington D.C. and we see that General Agpar is talking to the president. He says that they need to take the opportunity to finish off Shigaraki. Outside there are protests and destruction, including a sign that says "We Are All For One"

The president says that America is also in danger and that the Quirk Research Centers said Shigaraki is invincible, so he imagines that a political conflict will now begin in which the leaders of the first-world countries will fight for Tomura's trust

Aghpar tries to argue, saying that he won't stop after he starts taking away freedoms. But the president says that they have tried everything they had. When it seems like the discussion is about to end, Aghpar shouts "THAT MONSTER CANNOT EXIST IN OUR FUTURE!!!!"
I honestly have no idea what the **** is going on in this fictional USA... and I am USian

Extreme version of the 6th? maybe, probably just what other countries think our riots are like

Speaking of editors, I heard that people were blaming Horikoshi's poor writing from 2021 on a guy named Taguchi, who was also editor for Black Clover until its hiatus and for a manga that got cancelled. Then that guy was gone and he got a new editor and people were confident that his writing would improve up until this chapter came out.

Yeah, as it turns out, Horikoshi really isn't the one good writer people believed he was.

Here's another thing. Back when Star got killed by Shiggy we got the international community and the US saying they give up on helping the Japanese in their conflict because they were too busy so no one's coming to help them. Then in this chapter we got like one general coming to the White House to convince the president to send help to Japan even though their country is in deep shit and is in no condition to actually help other countries deal with internal conflict.

It would actually be OOC for the US to send help to Japan at all with it having many problems with itself if you know what I mean. But this is Hori's vision of America so I can't expect any consistency.

Taguchi's reputation came not from that but the fact that nearly every series he had a part in failed, it was either a joke made off of the track record or people took in seriously.
From what it seems, the "taguchi method" as some people named it still comes up, it's happened in every series.
For reference the taguchi method IS what the "poor writing" was, it's a track pattern that shows that Taguchi's method for edting was to make it fast and loose, throwing one ball at the reader, and then another, and then another, never letting them sink in or have the time to be impactful. It's been accredited to taguchi due to the fact that it's something that seemed to appear in every series he's had a part in at the time.
I will say that this doesnt completely destroy the manga for me, Horikoshi had a long streak of good writing from what people were praising. so it's not like everything is a complete failure. He's dropped the ball but he can pick back up the ball and keep making the story better improving over the mistake he's made

I don't care, the chapter is bad but i'm not overreaching nor making it looks like the end of world
Yeah, I'm choosing the enjoy the story that we got, and looking past it's flaws.
I enjoyed MHA, and I still do, a few large bumps will be fine for me
I mean people could accept the War Arc- Kaguya thing from Naruto, which I've heard was mostly ASS, and the Buu Saga, which from what I've seen from people was mostly ASS, and they can still enjoy it

Meanwhile Acer and Earthyboy are the only folks here that still sane here so they are my real homies
Bad writting or not, i'm here to enjoy my time whether is good or bad

I havent read the Buu Saga, I don't have the places to do so, so I only have reviews on the internet, which I know are inherently biased.
What was it like if I may ask?

how have I ended up being called one of the sane people here, I'm the one who jokingly made a calc about Deku & Bakugou rotating the storm by using a bolt of lightning

I don't care, the chapter is bad but i'm not overreaching nor making it looks like the end of world nor even dropping the series like an soy wojack
MHA is a bad story now and there is nothing you can say to me that would change my mind on that and the same goes for this chapter. It has become difficult for me to enjoy the story when it does not focus on a select few characters (and I have grown increasingly disinterested in them as time goes on). Nevertheless, I will still read this series to the very end no matter what happens as I have invested much time into the series and it is almost over anyways. I won't have much to lose.
