My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

I actually do plan on making a new calc for the current feat for Supersonic Base Deku, I feel like Superhuman speeds for Shinso’s whip is an unnecessary lowball

I tried looking everywhere for how fast a person can throw a rope, but found nothing.

Wait weren’t the bullets in Number 6’s frozen time thing also frozen? According to the CloverDragon page on viewing things at a standstill, it would be MHS+

that is correct.
Number 6 fires the weapons but they the bullets do not fly until he exits emergency speed

The bullets do exit the muzzle and fly far enough to be unseen, either obscured by a dialogue bubble or presumably off-screen. They simply do not make impact with Tsukauchi's vest until the acceleration is up.
they're so slow that we dont even see the bullets start moving until he exited emergency speed (I say that because man is just continually wandering around and literally just talking to himself and it didn't move those few centimeters, ya get what I mean).
I feel like it should atleast be comperable enough to use a snails speed.

So, you're saying the bullets were frozen but at the same time they are able to exit the barrel of the gun just fine?

idk, hard to explain.
Like, clearly the objects he's holding are being accelerated with him, Otherwise stuff on him like his jacket and stuff in his pockets would just, stay behimd.
But even in the manga panel given, we don't see them? atleast I cant find them, going by the diagonal angle and all we'd have to see it if it was going at it's "normal" speed in Six's perception, given that this is from his POV, and we can see him throwing away guns, and then they just stay in the air, because we also see the other guns he takes from and fires at the officers in the air, flying back from their own recoil.
But we know they hit Tsuchikage so they have to be there, so obviously it had to have exited or else the angle would have been off and it wouldn't have it tsuchikage's vest, it would have hit wherever six had just left the gun.
You see what I mean here? Like they're really slow in Six's perception while he's doing this, so slow we cant even tell that their moving (given he has time to go around and do it with all the other cops), but they HAVE to be moving for all those other reasons (Unless we're thinking that Six took the time to pull back the gun, make sure that the bullet had exited the muzzle and would still be on point)

I just calced an Overhaul feat at Mach 11, I’m gonna blog it

Assuming it gets accepted, it’ll scale to:

Overhaul (obviously)
Mirio
Nighteye

It’ll upgrade their actual movement speed

If they are moving in slow motion but not frozen, maybe we can use the speed of a tortoise (0.55 m/s)?

The gun being used in that scene is a New Nambu M60, which has a muzzle velocity of 270 m/s at it's slowest, and Number 6 traveled 16.97 meters.

(270/0.55) x 16.97 = 8330.72 m/s, Mach 24.28

Come again?

Considering the police were attempting to handle the situation non-lethally and the fact that they were using rubber bullets, wouldn't 60 m/s be more appropriate?

I still feel like thats kinda still too slow ya know,
cause .55 meters is still 55 centimeters, and I dont think that Six had time to do all that monologuing, gun grabbing/shooting, and playful attitude if the first bullet would have reached in a "second" of his time.
I did check, and while using .001, the average human running (median between 5.5 and 7.7 it seems) was MHS+ (6849), but given that it'll be downgraded to .013, it would become MHS (~526), so it still seems to fit in our ball park for what the feat should be around

@TheRustyOne The bullets only impacted Tsukauchi's vest after the acceleration was finished, why your Massively Hypersonic calc got discarded again?
The issue is a little irrelevant I guess. But it was due to the fact that there is a possibility that the bullets did hit them and they just aren't reacting to it. Though I'm noticing the bullets are clearly different than normal when Number 6 uses them. Due to the fact that the impact raises some of the officers into the air.

And rubber bullets vary in speed or something. Sometimes they move as fast as live ammunition but others don't.

Regardless we decided it wasn't worth the time since Number 6's current multiplier is slightly higher than what my calculation got anyway.

And here I thought I had a bad memory, have people already forgotten the calc was debunked by @AtomicSekiro using the Japanese translation?
Are we talking about people saying Nagant’s gun is stronger than a howizter cannon according to Deku, when in the Japanese translation Howitzer is never said?

I DID bring it up a long time ago but I don’t know if people here accepted it or even took the japanese translation into consideration, simply because it’d downgrade the feat.

Honestly at the end of the day all I wanna know is what kinda drugs the animators were taking, like shit why is he turning the walls psychedelic colors when he touched them and why did he start becoming a ring of pure speed
I thought the “ring” was Flect’s Quirk preparing to send the energy back, but since it was so much energy, it was having trouble doing so and the final attack from Deku shattered it.

The Flect fight has a lot of weirdness when Deku goes 100% I don’t understand either.

Like when Deku initially goes 100%, he charges at Flect, then there’s a flash of light where we don’t see any contact or attack, then Deku is sent flying back. Maybe I just have small brain.

Nah that was when all the cubes started moving everywhere. cause those directly came from the shattering of what we saw was a (atleast cinematc) representation of his quirk throwing things back.
The ring of SPEED was just the mf moving so quickly he started not being there and then started after imaging

"Weather Manipulation is the ability to psionically control and alter the forces of the atmosphere, creating changes in the weather. The user can intensify winds, summon storm clouds, and affect barometric pressure. Can be concentrated to generate indoor storms and to control the movement of rain/wind/lightning. One has the power to psionically control the weather in a wide range of distances. Characters can create or summon clear sky, rain, hail, snow, thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. It can be used offensively, or as the cycle of life for everyday human beings."

Sounds like in order to qualify as Weather Manipulation it needs to be an actual supernatural ability. Not a side affect of sheer strength.

Might need to ask some staff who knows the standards for this stuff. I see this being limited Weather Manipulation at best. Though he might not qualify for some reason.

Does anyone take AFODEKUDAD seriously?
The fact that they hid their house and now it hides a part where deku's freckles are is strange
although well it was already seen that it does not have it on one side so I do not know

It would not make sense but the repercussions would be infinite

The "All For Dad" theory is about as outlandish as Inko being the illegitimate child of Nana Shimura, conceived during a retreat to America.

"About".
uuuh I hadn't heard that one
although that would make shigi and deku cousins and it would be crazy
a conspiracy theorist looks at this and his head will explode

I know this is a little off-topic, but It wouldn't really matter because even if it were stronger, its kinetic energy would only imply that it was traveling at barely only a dozen times the speed of sound. Which... isn't really impressive. In fact, that statement would be borderline useless, as our current calculations say that the bullet is at least a few dozens of times faster than sound.

What IS impressive is that it had enough momentum/impact to knock back Deku a couple of meters, while he was flying through the air. The speed required to do that is extradonairy. The fact it's capable of decelerating Deku's body at all suggests that they're incredibly fast, even for bullets.
