Metroid V: To Infinity and Beyond

Just curious; has anyone tried to make arguments about Trace's Imperialist being a real laser?
No need to argue. It explicitly is, we even know the exact type it is. It's a quantum-cascade laser. So like 98-99.9% the speed of light.

The problem is it doesn't change anything, I looked into it when we were going over speed feats months ago, the ******* beam is hitscan. It literally can't be dodged or even downscaled off of. If it was just fast but still traveled, it would've been long since calced.

So, Samus is an esper now?
finally, samus can do the platinum crush.... anyone who lacks [probably a pathetically low LS value for her tier] will be incapped and crushed before the fight even begins....
"Platinum Crush"?

Actually the beam shit looks like timestop, they aren't even slowed down, they're completely frozen and obviously the funny filter.

Samus with some sort of timestop would be a menace, especially if it can be done outside of just homing attack.

Platinum coded....

I was a little apprehensive with the previous one but I actually really like what's shown here. Looks like the stuff early on with pirates vs the federation is gonna be the action intro, and then Samus gets summoned (forcefully?) to this planet here. Curiously Samus didn't have the purple color in the previous trailer, even when on planet Viewros, so either they changed that to not reveal too much or it's something you get early on but not immediately. Might be the former though, the first area is the same as the one shown in the old trailer. Then again, she has an E-Tank already, and she didn't in the previous trailer. So who knows.

At 1:00 we can see that the psychic aliens are called "Lamorn", and also that Samus has an ability named "Psychic Mote" that'll activate it. That's probably what's shown at 1:50?

At 1:05 Samus' charge beam is purple-ish, but it doesn't look like the Wave Beam. I thought this might be a Metroid Prime 2 situation where you get unique beams not from the franchise's standard set, but while in the following scenes against the aliens the beams continue to look non-wavey, at 1:57 it definitely is the Wave Beam.

Something else I noticed is that in the first trailer the beam used by the Pirates to destroy a Federation defense turret is a similar shade of purple. Probably means nothing, but yknow

The "abhorrent alien creatures" are interesting to me. They've got a whole cutscene and exposition, and they show up in multiple rooms, so I assume they're more than just a standard enemy, and maybe an antagonist of sorts? But we've already got Sylux and the Space Pirates, so I dunno how major they might be. Something very interesting is that both their head tentacles (though they only have four rather than six) and their additional pair of arms is very much like the Lamorn's.

The guided beam thing seems pretty busted- we've seen Psychic Mote require external help so maybe it's the same for that? Dunno.

"Chosen one. We welcome you.". I assume the first bit is another prophecy, like MP1, but "we" suggests that there's more than this one Lamorn, though they may similarly be in an incorporeal state (wonder if it's a psychic ghost or their "natural" state)

The thing at 2:32 definitely looks like Federation tech. Wonder what's up with that.

2:33 appears to take place in some ruined area. Maybe it's the intro from trailer 1, but I don't think so. Some Space Pirate base on Viewros maybe. There's also two tall towers in the background, I'd assume they're Lamorn architecture but they look to be in much better shape than their palace early on. The scene right after that is tricky to interpret- does the Space Pirate have a Metroid implanted in his body?

"Carvex" is definitely being fought in the area we saw Samus restoring earlier on, with the purple circle. It's also an early game boss, judging by the two E-Tanks. What's really weird here is that Samus only has 10 missiles, whereas she had 30 in Trailer 1, on the Federation Base. Either that happens later (I doubt it), or she gets hurt bad enough to lose her abilities again.

The Beyond Suit (I'm gonna call it that until official name) seems to be obtained in some active environment, there's no dust or erosion here unlike the Lamorn tech we see earlier, and that trends towards lighter colors. Maybe it's a Space Pirate area?

Overall very interesting stuff, I'm looking forward to playing this.

I think the Psychic Abilities are going to be really fun to play with if there's more to them than just what we were shown in this gameplay trailer. What I'm especially curious about is if the guided beam ability is only going to be applicable to whatever standard Power Beam is given to you when you arrive on Viewros (the purple Power Beam shots) or if there's going to be an application for all beams that may or may not appear with different use cases and properties.

That suit looks awesome as well, makes me wonder what ability that it's going to have when we eventually get it in-game.

Also, if they're showing us Prime 4 stuff in the Switch 1 direct. . .is it possible we're getting some news of a new 2D title in the Switch 2 direct?

i swear i'm not on the hopium

Anyone else watching the Nintendo Treehouse?
They just did their first segment of playing the new Metroid game. I don't usually play or watch Metroid (I'm sure it's great, though.), but it seems interesting.

Anyone have thoughts on it?

this looks like a Metroid general discussion thread kinda thing, so I was thinking someone might know about my question. I saw there was a small star level calc for Dark Samus surviving the destruction of Dark Aether, but Metroid is still tier 6 rn. I was wondering what happened to it because I think it was on the profiles at one point but they got downgraded.

Nah but like really. That's basically what the profiles already are.

And 99% of the armors are the exact same, they're just upgraded versions. There's no point, both indexing wise, and even lore wise because only Samus can use the armor, it isn't an item, it's integrated to her, a part of her even.

It'd be like indexing a magical girl transformation seperate from the character, it makes no sense.

And of course, the armors ALREADY indexed with Samus to begin with, so why make a new profile for something that's already indexed in a much more proper manner as a whole?

The ONLY armor that could maybe get one, is the Dark Suit, and only if you squint and via technicality because the Dark Suit is secretly just Luminoth Warrior suits, so it'd be shoved into an eventual Luminoth page, and even then only the Luminoth tech part of it.

Couldn't the basic Power Suit be a profile? If I recall it was practically standard issue among the Chozo.

We had a thread about that. Doesn't work if we can't explicitly prove E=MC2, which we can't. And from there, there's the whole problem of surface area so that gets tanked even further, and from there, the fact she was particles when she survived it so the area would be literally billions below human area. And from there further still the fact she didn't tank it and had to regen.

But literally why? The suit is already indexed on ZM Samus? The profile would LITERALLY be her profile, but copied and pasted.
The full capabilities of the suits are kinda glossed over. Like what abilities it can download and how it gets stronger with each weapon upgrade even if it's not compatible with the suit.

Then make a CRT to get that shit added to the actual profiles if that's what you want. We're not making whole new profiles for a mere facet of an existing profile.

No they are not. "Is capable of shooting missiles if it finds the missile upgrade, which it doesn't have in this key" is not something worth indexing...
Ofc it'd be something like "At least 8-C, at least High 8-C with stronger weaponry" or or something
... And no it doesn't, what?
Yes it does, it gets stronger by downloading Long Beam which only extends its Range, and it even gets stronger by downloading upgrades incompatible with the suit.

You don't understand my point, there's no reason to index abilities the suit doesn't actually have in a given key. It's modular, it can make almost anything work, the profile wouldn't make any sense.

Source?

I don’t remember saying that or at all hinting that was necessary.
Zero Mission. Getting just about any upgrade makes it take less hits to kill enemies.

"Like what abilities it can download". Abilities available in any given key are already listed so the ones that aren't are all that's left.

Looking into it, it's not "just about any upgrade", it's only beam weapons. And yeah, like, obviously upgrading the beam makes the beam stronger- this is just evidence that the Long Beam and the other ones all do contribute to power.

Now that I’ve beaten Zero Mission (One of the best games I’ve ever played btw), I never realized that Samus’s original Power Suit got destroyed. It would be nice just to have a profile on what a stock Power Suit can do with its optional attachments.
