Would that grant Doctor Strange resistance to or Soul Manipulation? Since he was able to pull his soul back in his body after it was shoved out

I don't think that would grant resistance since it does state that his soul got shoved out his body, and that he just essential went back in.

It's like an unintentional Astral Projection

Similar to Spider-Man in No Way Home, his soul got knocked out and he just went back in.
 
Is it likely that they lost on purpose?

like the snap had to happen in order to win, maybe that 1 out of all those futures, they had to lose first in order to win
Strange didn't give them the details of how they would, so they certainly didn't lose on purpose, but the events that were playing out were the ones needed to ensure that they would win in the end
