MCU Phase 5 General Discussion Thread

It seems like we should scaling her with eternity or not, in terms of durability, speed and AP, since her bodies we saw in the series was supposed to just be her avatar
yea idk honestly i might wait for the next episodes bc rio is supposed to appear in those episodes so we’ll get more details

I don't think he explained it right away because I've seen rumors that Death seen in agatha all along was just the beginning for her

Maybe there's a sort of avatar deal with her, Rio would just be a "mortal" form so to speak but yeah, we'll have to wait for the next episode. Thx for the blog btw, could you send me a link so I can copy past it, I can't do it on my own?

Does anyone have a clear res version of this statement?

Bottom yellow says "We created golden lightning for the first time and whenever that lightning hits, it melts into splashes of lava. Thanos throws a black hole at Doctor Strange who traps the black hole"

I haven't found that exact statement, though a very similar statement about the lightning can be found in this article.

It also notes that Thanos would be able to sidestep the lightning if it were fired directly at him.

I just got back from seeing Venom: The Last Dance.

Xenophages are symbiote hunters presented as a major threat to Venom and other symbiotes, and are capable of regenerating from being reduced to pieces. It also demonstrates some sort of sonic blast, and seems impressively fast, being capable of jumping onto an airliner from ground level within a couple seconds.

Toxin briefly fights and harms a xenophage, but is quickly overpowered and destroyed without getting any other combat feats.

Other random symbiotes as a group smash their way out of an underground base, and are able to fight and damage the xenophage, though are individually weaker than it and gradually get eliminated.

Lasher lasts longer than most of the other symbiotes, and can run as fast as a motorcycle.

Agony seems to be the fastest of the symbiotes and can generate electricity, but doesn't get any combat feats.

Knull doesn't get any combat feats, though he's treated as being vastly above any of the symbiotes and xenophages. He's implied to be a planetary threat, though the specifics of his capabilities are rather vague at this point. He also creates portals to send out xenophages and is apparently older than the universe.

It's a plot point in this movie that Eddie actually died briefly when he was impaled back in the first movie, and Venom revived him by connecting their life forces together. Venom also demonstrates the ability to hold on to a moving airliner, and later creates a parachute. He briefly gets to use a horse, a fish, a frog, and possibly a cockroach as temporary hosts. By the end of the movie, Venom manages to restrain four Xenophages within himself long enough for them to be destroyed by a combination of acid and an explosion.

SO not enough material to make a profile then?

Despite not getting to fight anyone in the movie, he'd still probably be 'At least 8-C, likely far higher' based on what the movie establishes about him. The beginning of the movie indicates that it took a mass uprising of symbiotes to imprison Knull in the past, and in the present, the symbiotes treat the scenario of Knull potentially escaping his prison as something that would doom everyone. Knull describes himself as a "slicer of worlds", and he later claims that he'll "kill the world".

So relatively enough to make a blog at least. Good thing since I intended to make a profile for him. The "slicer of worlds" and "kill the world" thing could lead to a "possibly 5-B" I guess. In terms of abilities, outside of immortality and the portal thing you mentionned, is there anything else notable (I assume he would get all symbiote powers since he created them)?

Knull was shown to have a sword, and from his prison on Klyntar, he also was able to detect the creation of the Codex formed on Earth by Venom connecting his life force to Eddie Brock. He created the xenophages too. One of Toxin's visions made it look like Knull might be capable of some degree of fire manipulation, but that didn't seem entirely clear.

Oh, and from Klyntar, he also was able to hear the sonic screech of a xenophage on Earth, allowing him to send more as backup. They didn't really explain exactly how that worked.

That green symbiote wasn't Toxin. Teddy Paine said Toxin left Mulligan's body after they were being tracked down by the military, and Mulligan was later fused with another symbiote.

Anyway, Xenophages are undoubtedly one of the most terrifying and hopeless villains to resist, even more terror-stricken than Sentinels from X-Men: Days of Future Past. If Xenophages were that strong, then damn, imagine what Knull would be. Won't be surprised if he turned out to be precisely comic-accurate when we get to see far more of them, especially in action. I'm somewhat glad that they didn't actually include Knull to be a product of the action scenes, nor did they put in Captain Universe Eddie Brock.

According to the Deadpool & Wolverine artbook, the TVA soldiers in the movie are intended to be an elite special-forces squad, with their armor designed to look upgraded compared to the ones seen in Loki, making them tougher. I have the feeling that this could complicate trying to figure out scaling...

IIRC, only B-15 and Ravona were demonstrably comparable to superhuman characters on purely physical terms.

According to this, in addition to Deadpool & Wolverine coming to Disney+ on November 12, we'll also have the following schedule:
  • What If...? season 3: December 22, 2024
  • Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man: January 29, 2025
  • Daredevil: Born Again: March 4, 2025
  • Ironheart: June 24, 2025
  • Eyes of Wakanda: August 6, 2025
  • Marvel Zombies: October 2025
  • Wonder Man: December 2025

I just finished watching the final two episodes of Agatha All Along.

Death just casually tears through the reality of the Witches Road like paper.

Agatha regains her powers after absorbing a considerable amount of magic from Billy, though it's made clear that neither of them would be capable of defeating Death. The best Agatha can do is put up a brief fight (though mostly offscreen), and Wiccan only gets a couple decent hits in with the element of surprise. Wiccan does at least withstand getting flung away and crashing through the top of a greenhouse.

The Witches' Road had never truly existed before, as the story about it was made up by Agatha based on the song that she and Nicolas came up with in the 1750's. The Road in this series was subconsciously created by Wiccan's reality warping without him realizing it until the end. Seems like an impressive pocket dimension creation feat, though I'm not sure what tier that would be. There was a moon visible in the Witches' Road reality.

After I watched First of all, I apologize for not being able to turn off the spoiler warning message.

Code:
The point I want to make is that immortals are unlikely to have any resistance to RW. Even Lady Death herself cannot stop the cycle created by scarlet witch that allows Billy to have a soul and be reborn. endless

as i couldn't find a Marvel Comics discuss thread imma tell it here:
was looking on Hulk's page and several imgur links are down

Definitely need to scale the Witches’ Road and thus Rio with it.

I don't think that should scale to Billy's regular magic attacks

Okay, so after doing some digging for statements, a new interview with showrunner Jac Schaeffer seems to indicate that the Witches' Road isn't nearly as large as it seems:

One of the scenes with with Aubrey that I can’t stop thinking about is when she takes her knife and plunges it into your set. That is the beauty of practical design. How’d you arrive at her literally cutting open reality?

Yes. So, this is the moment in our press journey together Andi, where I tell you that the reason that the road and our show is practical is because Billy Maximoff is a baby witch. And he can’t be creating thousands and thousands of miles of forest. So he created a backdrop, and he created forced perspective, and he created models, and all of the practicality of our sets is because of him, and because of his limitations of physically creating this world underground, underneath Westview.

And so that moment with Rio and the knife cutting the backdrop, that is Rio acknowledging that she knows what’s going on, that she knows that Billy has created this witches road hex. It also just is such a badass moment (laughs).

That makes sense. It was also a great shot

Looking back, the Witches' Road has stars visible in the sky in addition to the moon, which seems to suggest that it is 4-A in scale.
Was thinking about that.

To me this doesn’t make sense, this is clearly limiting how vast the Witches’ road is, he didn’t only create perspective, as the group took days to totally finish the big circle that it is. So yeah I get the whole illusory part about the scenery and the celestial bodies but it’s highly unlikely it was as small as the sets.

I think the Kaplans stated that Billy was gone for 24 hours.
So then it seems like time probably passes differently in The Witches’ Road. I think they entered the Road when it was sunset, then day in the first trial then night when it ended, anyhow it lasted more than 24 hours there. What’s interesting is that when Jennifer got out it was also sunset so yes, it’s likely 24 hours passed in Westview.

Heard rumors Knull slices a planet in half in a vision AT one point, is it true?
