My attempt to make things a little less sad here

That's even worse :"v

Too many so-called reviews are just people complaining about diversity (though there are negative reviews more reasonable), I've seen plenty of people who originally had no expectation or didn't like what they saw at first but actually liked it when they saw the movie itself. Hope this will continue
I mean, while I haven't seen the movie yet, the movie's mere EXISTANCE has made me obsessed with the Eternals.

Like, have you ever been a fan of something, but then learned something new about that thing, and that new info just... opens up your mind to SO MANY POSSIBILITIES? That's kinda what I've been going through with the Eternals... if that makes any sense.

Oh don't worry, I can understand, the movie has great elements to show and is very likely (very likely because I still haven't seen it) something completely different than the main MCU while giving more depths to it and new eciting elements. Still have to actually see it but I hope more people will acknowledge its potential

netflix showing marvel and dc shows side by side confused my mom and made her think flash and green arrow are marvel characters
About Marvel shows, you know what's sad? Marvel's shows are overally superior to DC's (ESPECIALLY CW shows) yet they have what might be the worst live-action superhero show ever made (empty of even a "so bad it's good" vibe like the 66 Batman show)

When I think of Marvel TV Shows all that comes to mind are the main Netflix Marvel, Captain Carter, AoS, Disney+, and that's about it.

Then there's these other Marvel TV shows:

• Legion
• Inhumans
• The Gifted
• Runaways
• Cloak & Dagger
• Helstrom

Have any of you watched these?
Watched Cloak & Daggers (was okay but not above that), Runaways (funny and okay as well and I really liked Morgan but that's it), The Gifted (meh) and, above all else, Inhumans wich...I barely have any word to describe outside of fascinating

what? Rotten tomatoes is the best example of the movie having awful reviews, and legit no review here is complaining about diversity. I'm pretty sure the review bombing is just being ignored by now and the audience is in this weird state where the critics rated it so low that they feel like they MUST give it a good rating, just to prove the critics wrong

Not really on RT but there are really anti-diversity-driven reviews on the internet about it, even before its release there was stuff like that

yeah the review bombing I know, but it was stopped in time on imdb so it's not really a problem for once. I mean the movies still has the usual stupid reviews (the one about hiroshima comes to mind) but it's even more minor than usual

Ah yeah, the review based on an article that misunderstood a scene in the movie, possibly intentionally
yes, this one. The worst is it's not like they only got a trailer, and the movie made it a big point that phastos is largely responsible for the evolution of technology

"forced diversity" is a cover-up term.
Yes and no. Of course, often (very often), it's just used by some racist/homophobic jerks who can't bear the idea someone different can be characters but at the same time, you can feel some movies just include diversity and progressism for the sake of diversity and progressism, not because of a genuine desire to add more diverse characters but just because compagnies want to have a good image and look progressive by saying "Look, we have a diverse cast, we're so progressive" (another pron being you can call anybody saying your movie isn't good sexist/racist/homophobic even if that's not what they're talking about). Like, sometimes (and more often now), you have movies where a character exists only through their gender/ethnicity/sexuality and that's it. They're not characters that happen to be minorities, they're just minorities that happen to be characters, wich for me is honestly more problematic than anything else because it's very stereotypical and instead of being defined by what they do and their personnality, they're just defined by what they are and everything else is secondary. I mean, the 2016 Ghostbusters movie is a good example, just like the recent Cinderella movie or the 2020 version of Mulan (wich was awful btw, to the point it became even more sexist and racist than the original, wich wasn't either of them)

And on the opposite side, you have John Stewart who is black and a Green Lantern, keyword being "and" because he didn't became one of the most beloved GL in comics just for the color of his skin but simply because he was a good character.
