I only did Danganronpa 1 and I'm currently doing the second opus, so Idk if there's more to it or if it's something contradicted (like a common game mechanic in the serie).

During the (fake) last trial, you can decide to reveal that Kyoko lies or just believing in her. If you choose to reveal it, Makoto will see what would happen if he do this (including Kyoko's punishment, despite never seeing this one yet), and you will have to choose the other option.

In School Mode, during the "Trigger Happy Hear part", you can see the inner thoughts of someone, and Makoto can react to them. During Celeste's part , she call this mind reading, and Makoto perfectly answering to the sentence in her mind seems to confirm it.

You can ask some experienced members listed in the Danganronpa verse page to comment here.

To give my 5 cents:

The "dating sims" mode for the games are non-canon, simply being "What Ifs" in a similar vein to alternate universes (Which If I remember correctly Monokuma does mention something similar during the playthrough). Similar case with the bad ending, we dont know If it was a premonition of Makoto during the last trial or it just didnt happend altogether and said last part was just another 4th wall break for story purposes.

School Mode is a mode you unlock after the main game, which is basically a "What if" when you create backups for Monokuma, and end-up creating Usami.

I'm not knowledgeable on anything beyond the first game yet (excluding some spoils), but I saw this, which kinda implies that "What Ifs" scenario are canon.

Since the original storyline is part of this, I'm not sure if it would be a problem. We also seems to use "dubiously canon" stuff according to Celestia's feats, so that's why I was wondering if it would work or not.

School Mode doesnt follow the story at all (No one gets killed, no class trials and everybody survives at the end) and it leds the player hang out with any of the characters for a 51 day period.

Thats the quote I mentioned before, the problem is that even If it mentions that this "IFs" are events that could perfectly happend in the main timeline we saw, said statements also contradicts themselves saying that the other scenarios are just possibilities and that they dont affect the main reality

I never wanted to say that they were not different possibilities/affected the main thing, my bad if I gave this impression.

It's just that I'm pretty sure that we consider What-Ifs/possibilities as part of canon ("secondary canon"), like how we do for bad endings or routes in games like Touhou, Fire Emblem, or some Visual Novels.

I share the same opinion, If anything I would prefer:

Likely Mind Reading (Stated by Celeste in School Mode that Makoto has the ability to read other people's toughts, however, its unknown if this apply to the Makoto of the main reality)

Btw can you specify where did you get Celes' statement, the link you provided only sends me to her School Life page on the wiki.

During the Trigger Happy Heart, during this part you can see others' toughts and respond to them. It happens with everyone and not just Celeste btw.

I agree with "likely", since I was already more for a "possibly".

However I think the "premonition" should also be with a possibly/likely, since it can't be Makoto imaginating how it would went (since he doesn't know about the punishment used yet) and he clearly react to it. Even if I agree that part of it is more game mechanic/4th Wall so that you don't redo the whole trial.

So what are the summarised conclusions here?

"Likely Mind Reading" is agreed, likely Precognition is still discussed I think, since KarmodF was against it.

Okay. That is probably fine, as long as you all agree.

I can add the "Likely Mind Reading" and wait for Precognition if you prefer.

I would say that precog. is fine, since the statement confirms "Ifs" scenarios as canon, that means even failstates could be considered canonical and could have happend in the main reality.

Has this been applied yet?

No, the wiki itself is locked, but I gave Yuri temporary editing rights a while back.

Thank you. Should I close this thread then?
