Its not just bullshit plot armor (I mean technically still is) but its acknowledge in-universe by various characters, Eggboi who has a massive knowledge over the multiverse and scientific functions and Mogul, who has knowledge over the multiverse and its forces.

Normally Luke would one-shot and call it a day, but there's one ability that stops it; Fate Manipulation. That ability is the one thing that prevents the battle from ending quickly, and it's because Sonic's Aura is an invisible plot device (lol).

Sonic will win because it's unlikely for him to do so, and that's what chaos is; something that you don't expect, something that shouldn't happen, or should be impossible to happen. Sonic is constantly referred to as the Embodiment of Chaos. Like Sonic making Super Scourge act like a Grade-A jobber, and the guy is a damn 2-A. Or like Sonic turning Super from a beam that should've killed him (first scan). The power is taken so literally, so prominently, that Eggman temporarily goes insane from him being unable to ever defeat Sonic (second and third scan). Eggman even rants about it while being locked down by his nephew (third scan).

Is it a somewhat bullshit power? Yeah. Is it an actual power that he has, that's even covered several times across the comics? Yep.

Also, power null with Sword of Acorns which works on 2-As, as Mogul used it to drain Dimitri Enerjak's powers and absorb them.
