Will a character who has AP 5 Joule be able to hurt a character whose durability is 20 Joules with 4 attacks?

If I punch a plate of steel 100 times would I punch through it?
basically this.
Obviously you can wear something down above your durability, or inflict minor damage. But that's only to a degree, at some point something gets so durable you just can't do shit to it no matter how many times you hit it.

Could a 5j hurt a 20j? Yeah, but very minor. Would they magically do 20j worth of damage in 4 hits? No, they're just doing 5j worth of damage, 4 times in a row, it's a slight, but important difference.

Like, as Hisoka lad said above, a 100j punch against steel 100 times won't do shit to it, all you're doing is hitting it with 100j, a 100 different times, it doesn't magically combine.
But if you hit a steel plate with an attack 100x 100joules (so 10,000j), yeah you'd probably blow it the **** out, but that's because all that energy is applied at once, not over time as separate attacks. To give an example you would likely understand easily, sit in front of a fan for an hour, you take no damage after an hour right? That's because that energy of the fan applied is not all at once, but if you took that whole worth of fan blowing (nice) all at once, you'd have your face torn the **** off.

The answer is minor damage is minor damage, and can do damage over time, but only in the same way a bunch of small cuts would eventually add up. If something is to tough, it's just to tough, attacking it a bunch won't help ya.
