You can even see Sora's health bar remains them same and a blue and green light bring him back while Donald and Goofy immedieatly help him out.

Well, are we allowing outside help or is it just Link vs Sora 1v1 with no others involved?

If that was the case, then Goofy and Donald wouldn't be able to help Sora out and he'd kinda be at Link's mercy. It'd be close, but with Link's overall power and skills that Sora really doesn't have an answer to, Link would probably take this.

In the end it wouldn´t be useful with no Donald or Goofy around.

Sora still can summon them if you take Chain of Memories, however.

He specifically needs their cards to be around and he can only summon them in that instance because they're still with him, just as cards.

It seems to be just an illusion.

It being an actual one would be dubious at best.

Anyways, if Sora didn´t scale directly to Xehanort, he would have been 3-B+ via downscaling, which wasn´t the case as he could individually keep up with him.
