Garen's largest feat worth mentioning is a multi-hundred tonnage lifting strength that would leave iconic supersoldiers in science fiction like Master Chief and Alcatraz in the dust with their piddly .30cal .50cal rifles. Deflecting bullets and moving faster than eye in massive armor. And via powerscaling intercepting the Iron Revenant Mordekaiser's Nightfall (weighing dozen tons of iron that he wields with one hand) strikes and telekinesis magic that the mook knight had.

The older cinematics doesn't do Garen's post-rework later portrayals enough justice actually.

That said, even those cinematics are canon. Because they are all in Universe, the official repository of canon materials.
 
Well i mean they have never said that 99% of the things in LoL are canon so i suggest deleting everything besides lets say Urgod cause heck Swain wasnt stated to be canon so why should he be although he is on the universe page and an established character in LoL.
 
The Lore of LoL is in a constant state of being updated and expanded on. By that logic we shouldnt have stats for LoL at all as their lore isnt complete yet

There's a difference between updated and outdated information that a lot of people like to keep ignoring to justify the scaling.
 
So Riot who updates things on the universe right after they are released for example the Icathia story was instantly updated on to the universe yet Riot is somehow years behind on removing the cinematic from universe?

Also the cinematic came before the universe page was created so someone from Riot had to put it there making "Its not updated" argument completely invalid.

For characters with outdated lore there isnt anything else to base them off of. We're not going to just ignore chaarcters whose lore has yet to be updated because of it, we will use the old lore until new lore is made, then we'll change it.

We can obviously use stuff like Garen pulling the statue or Jax having beheaded the Ascendant, but ignoring the fact that most of the human, non-magical champs haven't fought anyone on their tier or shown similar feats to justfy meaningless scaling is wanking.
 
Actually there are scalings that are workable, such as Fiora = Jax = Darius = Rengar = Katarina = Garen = Jarvan = back to Fiora in belonging to roughly the same tier. Some are stronger than others within that tier but their general fighting capabilities will not be off by orders of magnitude.
 
We arent scaling Xin Zhao to Ornn,Nasus,Zoe,Diana/Leona,Voidborn or Maokai for a reason.

Rather we scale Xin to Garen who is a fodder whom Xin should be at least comparable to.
 
The Bilgewater champions' scaling would work best with Shadow Isle champs and their opponents (Lucian) due to Harrowing. Miss Fortune had deflected Hecarim's strike with her scimitar for example during their melee.
 
Except that none of them have actually fought each other, unlike Jax + Icathians vs the Ascendants. Using headcanon isn't a great way to scale anyone.
 
I don't think Garen is really a fodder in Demacian ranking, just that there have been many other unnamed knights who shared his strength feat. The thing is, Demacia is known to be the 'small in quantity but elite in quality' trope military nation in Runeterra that basically the starting baseline of their entire ground force is going to be top notch. In that regard, Demacian soldiers are going to top-notch combatants just for being Demacian soldiers in the first place. They are, for example, nearly untouchable by Harry Potter wizards while also being able to fight Spartans in hand to hand combat.
 
Regis, in your attempt to 'get rid of headcanon and assumptions' youre literally using headcanon and assumptions on top of ignoring things that have already been confirmed by Riot themsleves to be canon to the lore.
 
Says the person whose sole reasoning for scaling everyone is this: "Can fight on-par with Garen, and similarly powerful champions"
 
'Fiora = Jax = Darius = Rengar = Katarina = Garen = Jarvan' these are all people who fought each other. Jarvan's lore says that he and Garen were sparring partners since childhood days where Garen was a better fighter than he is, and Fiora's lore says that no Demacian knight so far had bested her in battles to death and she already had to kill 40.
 
Except only Garen and Jarvan have sparred with each other. Fiora vs Jax is unknown for now, while the rest haven't encountered each other in lore.
 
But really when it comes to Demacian combatants it's going to be their petricite armor that's going to shine here (both literally and figuratively). They provide all sorts of useful magic resistance from soul magic and necromancy to the firepower to bust down castle gates. Any Demacian vs with mundane opponents means you are simply not using them in their strong suits.
 
What the **** Regis. They literally fought together in their cinematics, which are canon.

We got over the Fiora thing. Pretty sure Fiora vs Jax rivalry is a common consensus nowadays.
 
Those cinematics aren't canon as their lores never mention it and they are all based in SR, which doesn't exist anymore.

Rivalry does not indicate parity.
 
Those cinematics are canon even after the respective champions' profile makeover. Non-canon info are invariably removed. They weren't. Where's Ahri's old bio now?

Fiora has parity by Jax's own admission. But let's not repeat this circlejerk anymore because I doubt your complaints will lead to any meaningful editing of the profiles today.

As I've said, Ahri's profile page literally got a full makeover when she became a vastaya. Any piece of Ahri lore where her vastaya heritage was not referenced got removed, invariably and with no regard to how much raw amount of content they had previously (her entire non-vastaya lore went up in fox flames. poof.); her cinematics was not one of them, even after that makeover.
 
The only canon they belong in is the one before the retcon, as they are only meant show off the game.

Jax never says that. Like the only circlejerk going around is by you who thinks that first impressions without feats makes for valid scaling.
 
The only canon materials are those that remained even after full profile make overs. Those that did not remain were deemed non-canon and discarded.

Jax completely says that... a worthy opponent. Riot even literally provide a direct contrast of it through the previous challenger who Jax knew was a wimp from the first glance. And he was right.

Look mate, this is Narrative Writing 101. There's really nothing hard to grasp about this fact.
 
Except things like concept art and behind the scenes videos are also present, and neither of which are canon material.

A first impression is not indicative of how a fight might play out. Anything else is just an assumption.
 
Bring one citation from Rioters where they said that they are non-canon. Just one. I'll wait for it.

We are privoded with direct evidence in the story itself that Jax's first impression is consistent with what actually turns out in the fight with the said combatant next.
