The T Rex just has to step on Jimmy. Ergo, getting up close to fight it would be a bad idea. Long range fighting won't help much since, in real life, the most firecrackers, bottle rockets, slingshots, and spud guns would do to a t rex is severely annoy it. Think about it, could you really kill a t rex with that kind of equipment? The t rex can also stomp on the ground to shake the area and knock Jimmy off his feet.

Accept Jimmy is physically stronger than the T-Rex. I single punch from Jimmy is a Kilogram of TNT; which is enough energy to blow up a 3000 pound car. According to this calc, the T-Rex is only 87,010 joules where as Jimmy's punches are 4,184,000 joules. On second thought, this might be a stomp thread given Jimmy is like almost 50x stronger and more durable than the T-Rex.

Frieza, you cannot compare the real life versions of those objects to the ones here, as these are upscaled to the point where they are stronger than just about every man portable gun of any sort.

Yeah, this is fiction as Wokistan said. Fiction is full of weapons that appear like nerf guns, but are stronger than all the Earth's Nuclear Weapons combined. Even Jimmy's weapons or bare hands are easily stronger than the world's strongest sniper rifle.
