Keep in mind that itachi held back severally against sasuke and was dying from his sickness.
Orochimaru was indeed playing with 4 tailed cloak naruto and his body started fail.
Orochimaru can use his special full body restoring ability a limited number of times.
I do not know what effect a white zetsu body has on orochimaru so we will ignore that.
With that said, it also doesnt make sense for itachi to release the impure world reanimation on himself when he gave the command to protect konoha, as it should have been a permanent job rather than just a one off command, unless he didnt already have that knowledge. Would have gave orochimaru a chance to obtain a better idea of immortality. With that said, Orochimaru is limited to three bodies with IWR and they can only be sound ninja four level.
