"Not to be a downer or anything, but have you guys seen that really old movie where some people got stranded on an island with dinosaurs on it and a bunch of them got eaten?"

"Did they have powers in that movie? Because we do. We should be fine as long as we stick together and take care. Should we look for shelter or try and hunt down something?"

Nicholas steps away from the area of the dinos as to avoid spooking them, he then stomps the ground repeatedly, causing shock waves and opening a fissure wide enough to fit several people inside of it.

"You should go in and use your power to melt some more room for us down there."

"Fair point. I guess I'll help keep watch for anything not us."

While Nick and Igneus get to making a shelter, I do my best to look between the trees, an eye always on the big vegetarians just in case the shaking causes them to stampede.

Though the muttaburrasaurus weren't frightened away by the actions of the survivors, they certainly became more alert towards them as they made their fissure. Several of the iguanodonts stopped feeding as they watched the group with caution.

Nicholas jumps down into the fissure and takes a look around. "This should be enough room for us. Hey. You up there, find some firewood."

By this point, the Muttaburrasaurus began walking away from the area. Perturbed by the survivor's actions, the iguanodonts would rather get away from the mammalian arrivals and head somewhere safer. And so the herbivores gradually disappeared into the forest, the crunching of leaves and branches being heard as they moved through the brush.

As the day progressed into the early afternoon, the survivors would remain within the fissure, having managed to create a small campfire for themselves. The fog had since weakened to the point where it tightly hugged the shoreline, now hardly visible to the survivors were they to look for it. The muttaburrasaurus had long since left the area for other feeding ground, with the only sounds now being the distant calls of the life further within the island.

Some of the survivors may have been resting, while others might have stayed awake. But all of them were gathered around the campfire, feeling safe and secure by its warmth.

Unfortunately for them, the fire would have unforseen consequences for them.

The heat of the flames was acting like a beacon. A beacon that stuck out like a sore thumb in the world of infrared vision. Unable to resist the lure of such heat, one of the island's residents began homing in on the signature like a guided missile, eager to reach its target.

The survivors would begin to notice a strange rumbling in the dirt around them. Not like the footsteps of a large animal, there was no pause in the rumbles. It almost felt like an earthquake of sorts. And it was getting stronger and stronger by the second.

Before anyone could predict what was happening, a trio of serpentine creatures burst from the wall behind Charley. The predators, sporting red skin and no eyes, bit down upon the man's head and arms, dragging the screaming survivor away into the dirt and towards his fate.

It had all happened in just a moment.

As the mysterious assailants dragged away their first victim and disappeared back into the dirt, the survivors could once more feeling the earth rumble around them. Whatever had gotten Charley now moving around the remaining survivors, circling the lot like a shark circling a wounded seal. The entity seemed ready to strike at any moment, hungry for more of the survivor's salty flesh.

"Come on. We can't sit here and die." Nicholas stomps down and creates a large shockwave that travels through the earth to attack the things moving in the earth.

The force of the shockwave seemed to work, impacting the assailant and prompting it to fall back. The survivors could feel the rumbles quickly growing weaker by the second, the source of the vibrations rapidly retreating some distance away. Still, they could feel the distinct vibrations now much more faintly etching their way through the dirt. Whatever attacked them hadn't truly fled; it was simply biding its time to strike.

As the survivors waited with tense breath, the rumbles once again began to grow stronger and stronger. This time, however, the increase in intensity was much more rapid. The unidentified burrowing organism was homing in on the survivors once again, this time with greater speed and ferocity than before. It would seem that whatever was preying upon the survivors had become enraged.

"Here it comes, be ready." Nicholas jumps up and lands, letting out a massive shockwave in the direction of the rumbling in an attempt to destroy the internal organs of the beast.

The shockwave stretched outwards through the dirt, traveling at high velocity in an attempt to strike the survivors' assailant. And yet, though the attack was certainly a strong one that would have proved lethal to some, the incoming rumbling seemed to just get stronger and more prominent. Had the source simply tanked the attack? Had the shockwave prove ineffective?

No, the beast had simply dug deeper, dodging the shockwave, and now it was attacking not from behind, but from below.

The dirt beneath Nicholas' feet exploded outwards, the serpentine creatures once more reaching out with voracious ferocity as they bit into the survivor's legs, proceeding to drag him underground.

Nicholas stomped on the creatures with full force as he was being dragged, the beasts now directly receiving the full impact of his attacks.

Unfortunately for Nicholas, the strength behind the serpent creatures proved greater than anticipated; the creatures' toothy grip on his legs prevented him from being able to stomp on them. The most Nicholas could do was struggle uselessly as he was being pulled into the dirt.

Just slightly moving his legs should be enough to create a shockwave. Nicholas attempted to pry loose the grip of the creatures with his arms, while attempting to move his legs to strike a single shockwave, at this range, even a small shockwave would deal large damage.

The creatures would continue to restrain Nichola's movements as they kept dragging him away, only for Igneu's scythe to stab into the neck of one of the serpents. A pained shriek emitted loudly, not from the creatures, but from somewhere deeper into the dirt behind the serpents, as the toothy heads released Nicholas and quickly slipped back into the dirt.

After being released by the creatures, Nicholas used his shockwaves to launch himself out of the the fissure. "I'd suggest you follow suit, they'll be a lot less dangerous on ground level."

While Nicholas and Igneus escape the fissure, Donte was still left vulnerable to the assailant's assault. Bursting from the ground beneath the survivor, the serpents bit into the man's neck and arms, ravaging his flesh with their teeth as they tried dragging him into the dirt.

"Be on guard, I doubt this is over." Nicholas readied himself to react to any attacks. He then stomped the ground lightly, sending out weak shockwaves all around, trying to detect the location of the creature that attacked them.
