Is Cloud and his crew defeating Ultimate Weapon canon?

I think only Emerald WEAPON and Ruby WEAPON were the optional ones.

In the past, TheEverlasting and I have always scaled Superbosses to the final boss due to being able to fight the end-game party and the fact that the Superbosses have no relevance to the story.
However, due to the fact that the Weapons are canonically weaker than Sephiroth along with the fact that you can encounter them before the end of the game, we're kind of unsure as to how to rate them at the moment.

Safer Sephiroth > Weapons. Game stats dont matter, they are freed within the story but only one of them has to be defeated in order to end the game. However, you can battle the others as soon as you reach that point in the story. So... yeah, they are canon, as the party beats Sephiroth canonically and Sephi is just stronger than them. Hope this makes sense.
