I got bored and made a calculator

I developed a web app that helps people calculate feats and quickly pixel-scale scans.

https://vs-calc.vercel.app/

The web app has a number of features and modules for nearly every type of calculation we do. It also follows our standard formulas. I’m looking for people to use it and provide feedback, such as bug testing and accuracy checks.

I got permission to post a staff thread from both @Dalesean027 and @KingTempest and they also suggested that I try to see if we can get an “official approval” to add it to pages and similar resources.

Hey one issue. I don't see where the formula for calculating universal sized tornadoes is. Is there any way we can implement that?
Sorry that’s exclusive to the JJK calc tool that automatically wanks everything 10 to 20 times the original value. Seems like they’re using it already though.
Rotational KE missing

Joking aside, looks solid.
Right I’ll add it later

This seems very well done.

While it may seem ungrateful(😅), could you also make it print the formulas' there based on the values the user adds there? For example:
Formula: E = Volume (cm³) × J/cc
Could it also print this based on the values or choices done by the user? Since those are supposed to be written in the blogs alongside results.

(This isn't a request or something i want it to be added. Just saying it since i wanted to write something here :d)

Absolutely. I thought about making it print your imputs with the formula with the format to just copy and paste on any blog, but that was not the priority at the time.

Ronnatons and Quettatons missing and a couple of other calc methods missing, primarily the omindirectional feats and sh*t, but those are minor nitpicks.

My major nitpicks are this: Will this stay up for a long time or does it risk getting the ye olde "This domain is now for sale"? Will it get updated with new values on the regular?

There is no domain, it’s hosted on Vercel, hence the “vercel.app”. I don’t have the money to spend on a domain though, even though it’s kinda cheap.

Don't forget my other suggestion for when this is implemented, From a wiki standpoint I'd say its best to also propose a support thread be made for if anyone does run into trouble or notice anything off with it, should be in either the calculation section or wiki management

Also sorry to kill the vibe of some regular users but this is a staff thread so make sure yall have permission to comment, we figure we'll need some green names and approval/input from CGMs and want that part to go smoothly

I'm sorry, even though I don't have any permission to this, but i just wanna say that i am really impressed by this. Whoever you are, you have my respect. Even I can use that calculator as a person who have a dogshit math. Well done soldier.

I think it'll be great to use. One consideration I have for the future is that I don't want people to use it as an excuse to avoid showing their work. Like "Here's the values we start with, I used the calculator and got this result for it."

Users making calculation blogs still need to show the steps they followed through for the ease of people evaluating and anyone else checking out the calc down the road.

This seems very well made, I agree that people will need to at least add screenshots from it to their blogs if they use it since we have to be able to check the math. Otherwise as long as everything works this will be game-changing for a lot of users, great work.

As I said prior to the thread being made: this looks like a fantastic addition. Agree with others that work still needs to be shown (perhaps this is obvious) but it is my hope that this smooths over a lot of wrinkles.

@Antvasima @AKM sama

Pinging you two to say that I feel that, if accepted, this should be given a highlight thread, and featured prominently somehow. Calculations can be made a lot simpler for a lot of users thanks to this.

So I wanna find the panels height. I have the kids height as 170cm, but when I put this reference, it makes other lines apply the unit when I just want the px for the panel. I know there's another place for panel height but this panel is a smaller one right? So how do I make it so that panel line only measure px?

Edit: Dale gave perms

Fixed, it was supposed to show that already but now it does 100%

Saw this on another forum but looks good. Calculations are a big barrier for entry to battleboarding, but also it can help CGMs verify the work of calcs once properly verified

Also just as a tool tip too, you can also curve lines in this if you use the select tool and double click on the line, that's what the #5 on the how to use means by "adding points", basically add points you can manipulate for curving. Just wanted to specify that since it might not have been clear

Got permission from Dale here

I have been playing around with the calculator for a bit, and I've got to say, you guys really outdid yourselves. I cannot stress how INSANELY USEFUL this is for getting calcs done fast. Previously, any time I needed to pixel scale or do formulas or whatever, I'd need to open up Photoshop, manually label everything, open up like 20 different tabs at once just to remember all the individual operations I did, and copy ALL that into a blog: it was a mess, but thanks to this, things are going to be infinitely more streamlined, so for that I'm incredibly thankful.

One proposal I have is to allow us to overlay separate frames on top of each other so that speed feats can be done on-site rather than needing to use separate image editing software, overlay the two frames there, and then copy that into the calculator. I think streamlining that by having it all done in one place would be VERY useful and save a lot of time.
