So, the round has come for Sagat to be updated with what SF6 has brought to the table, as well as cleaning up the profile a little bit. Don't expect any crazy updates, but we have at least got more than SFV produced so many years ago.

Current file - New File

As always, references are on the file, not on this topic due to copy-pasting issues.

Soundtrack for the read

General changes
  • Updated: Summary (rewritten in what I believe to be a better version), Age (made it into unknown) and Classification (added hermit and figther)
  • Gallery expansion
  • New propic and quote addition
  • Attacks & Techniques: New gifs, techniques and videos, to match with his new moveset.
  • Added a new section for "combat skills", I've been implementing these little sections for all my revised SF characters, to add more insights on how they fight and what their fighting styles consist of. Sagat's was especially meaty and I moved something from his ap and intelligence sections over there, mostly references to his philosopy and history.
  • Removed the old, pointless and false weakness "Sagat's pride prevents him from taking unfair or dishonest advantages in combat", old files had a knack for considering the lack of absolute bloodlust a weakness. I've also added a reference to his missing eye.
  • Stamina update, still Peak Human but with an old/new feat.
  • Expansion of his intelligence while also making him generally gifted, I thought it pointless to have two different levels considering how the most relevant one is simply all there is to say about him.
  • I've added a mention to his fight with the new M. Bison in his ap section.

New/Updated Powers and Abilities:

  • Acrobatics (elaboration/expansion) (Hypermobility and Self-Momentum; Sagat is able to perform attacks in mid-air and employs acrobatic techniques which surpass conventional human limits. Such abilities can also be applied for defense, such as nullifying throws, somersaulting in mid-air to regain balance after having been hit, or rolling across the ground to swiftly shift position)
  • Chi Manipulation and Projection (elaboration/expansion) (Sagat can harness his chi to empower his physical strikes and fire energy projectiles. Years of relentless training have also made him develop an affinity to the Satsui no Hado, the Murderous Intent, a power that grants incredible strength at the cost of their sanity; however, Sagat have always refused to give in to its tentations, utilizing it very scarcely and only from demonstration) part of this last bit was also integrated in his resistance to corruption.
  • Extrasensory Perception (addition of a new feat) Was able to witness the Player's inner battle against their dark side
  • Social Influencing (new ability) (Animal Charming; Has found and raised his pet tiger Willa Maiu, which has stood loyal to him even in adulthood. Instigating Fear; Sagat carries himself with a powerful demeanor which appears intimidating to most; such behavior was engraved onto his person by the dignity emanated by Nuakan, the late emperor of Muay Thai whose title was stripped by Sagat himself. His mere, silent presence made a local leaders more favorable towards an appeal of the village elder)
  • Minor Perception Manipulation (new ability) (His sheer aura made the Player experience a frightul hallucination)
  • Empowerment (new ability) (Tiger Vanquisher ascends into a stronger versions whenever Sagat is at low health)

Today I've discovered, through the Street Fighter wiki, the existence of this now-archived, old SF4 Japanese website. It's official material gone offline due to old-age and the periodical renewal of Capcom's main websites, considering it's nearly 20 years old (how does the time pass, right?)
It contains a section for various novels which re-tell and expand on the little animated prologues found in the game itself and I see nothing wrong with considering these canon as well.
They're overall a pleasant read. which mostly expand on the character's everyday life and relations, nothing really vs battles-oriented, with the exceptions of the usual suspects: Akuma and Bison!
Once again, nothing mind-blowing but cool features nonetheless. Both google and chatgpt have provided matching translations, they're not as a human one, but the content doesn't seem to much subject to interpretation.

Akuma

  • Aura and Minor Temperature Manipulation: Can manifest his fighting spirit in the form of heat and haze, an aura that can obscure the vision and grow into a physical force capable of exerting overwhelmind pressure, distort the air, crack the earth and incapacitate a normal person through mere contact.

M. Bison

There's something more, still regarding M. Bison, and possibly, slightly controversial to add and taken from Sagat's new SF6 story:

  • Teleportation (for the SF6 key) : (no, this is not the controversial part). Disappeared in front of Sagat, dodging an incoming attack.
Making his Regeneration Low-Godly "possibly" again: (yes, this is the controversial part) M. Bison's mysterious return in SF6 has purposely left unclear both within the story and to the fans' perspective. The most common interpretation, moved even by the characters themselves, is that Bison's fractured consciousness inhabited one of his spare bodies. The argumet had seemingly been cleared by a famitsu interview (already linked on his file), but Sagat's story begs to differ. Here we have Bison stating to not be the old Bison and Sagat immediately mentions his clones, a statement which Bison does not contest. Now, this could be metaphorical (Bison is indeed a similar but different person, personality-wise) and both him and Sagat do not operate accordingly to the insight that the developers interviewed by Famitsu have. All of this fuss is to say that we once again know jackshit, but it may be better to not consider Bison's resurrection a true regeneration.

And we're done once again, please state your mind (unless it's being controlled by Psycho Power) here in the comments!

Status Effect Inducement (By hitting the opponent repeteadly, without them being able to recover, he can cause them to enter the "Stun" status, which leaves them unable to react. His Focus Attack causes the opponent to enter a "crumpling" status)
Eh, idk about the first one, it just sounds like the natural result of being hit multiple times. Also what is crumpling?

Is Menet a reputable source here, you should probably explain stuff about her, otherwise it looks kinda weird to give someone resistance off those scans.

The rest seems fine

These two are actually abilities that have been on SF profiles for years already, but they've been subject of discussion.

The first one is a game mechanic, that was initially accepted because a couple characters (such as Alex and Poison) have moves specifically designed to induce this status, which was then considered legit for all characters, even those who had to obtain it through pure combat. I actually motioned for its removal, or at least limitation to said specific characters, one or two years ago, but folks voted to keep it anyway. Honestly, my stance remains the same, to either remove it due to being honestly just game mechanics or to limit it to characters with specific techniques.

The second one was initially a resistance to Precognition, going off only the third quote, and I voiced for its addition years ago, as Menat is indeed a reliable source, being a fortuneteller with more reference to this skill and a disciple of Rose, another fortuneteller.
About 6 months of a year ago other users revised it to become Limited Fate Manipulation through different interpretations of the three aforementioned quotes. I wasn't much involved in that revision both because I did not have time for the wiki and because it seemed to be mostly equivalent to me.

0.18 Tons is Small Building level+

Otherwise this is good.

I will make a thread about this because the users that added statistics values to the SF files have made a little bit of a mess, indicating outdated calcs (not wrong, just lower caps) as the main ones, missing out on others and indicating different stats for characters that scale to the same thing.

I've honestly never been a fan of these notes, but I will make a clean-up CRT once I'm done with the revisions of C. Viper and Alex.

It should have been limited to characters that get it via a specific move, rather then have all characters get it by simply kicking and punching around a few times which relies on a bar accumulating all that

Agreed, I will mention it in the eventual clean up crt.

We've got staff and knowledgeable members agreement and it's been two days, so I'm calling this thread off and applying it.
