Hyper Sonic Canonicity

Simply put I don't know if this topic was already discussed here or not but in this interview, Takashi Iizuka has stated that the super emeralds which are necessary for Hypersonic, were added to Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles after the game was split in half, serving as lock-on bonuses to enrich the experience for players who had already collected the Chaos Emeralds. alongside this, he also said during that interview that during Sonic Adventures development they went and cut the Super Emeralds to the currently more manageable Chaos Emeralds and Master Emerald. Thus removing Super emeralds from the main cannon of the sonic series.

Now I can understand if someone tries to say, But they appeared in Sonic Mania. Except that the sonic mania universe is not tied to our version of Sonic's universe and those also seemed to be broken and unusable.

I actually didn't know they had already removed it from sonic tabs. Should've checked before making this thread. I remembered that hyper sonic was a tab.

Either way thank you for responding
