I don't know to much about gamma ray bursts and I'm a bit curious as to where it would be put.

How strong would a gamma ray burst be considered?

Well, we'd need a picture or something to go off of. A single gamma ray held for 0.000001 seconds isn't going to kill anyone (which is why we're able to do X-Rays). A gamma ray explosion the size of a nuclear bomb air blast might be something worth looking at.
