I don't know much about Gilgamesh, and I've only seen up to Ichigo saving Rukia, but of what I've seen, I'm not sure. Gilgamesh seems to have a range advantage, but Kenpachi's got the sick dura. I'm not sure. I'll hold back judgement until I see what others have ta say.

Also, is Gilgamesh allowed to use Merodach?

Yes he can. And Kenpachi loves fighting while getting hacked to death, though I'm not sure if Gil even needs to use anything besides Gate of Babylon.

Well, then he isn't going to have a good time against Gilgamesh. Hundreds of conceptual weapons being throw at him from the beginning of the match isn't going to end well for him.
