Genshin Impact Discussion Thread

From what I could find, Asmoday stopped the travelers for "committing transgressions," or at least that is what the "angel" created by Asmoday claims. There are also claims that Asmoday is watching over the Traveler and "left the brother of the abyss to his own devices."

[GI 6.5] WQ spoilers

Melanta:
Outlander... Since you are no child of humanity, how should I address you?
Traveler option:
My name is {NICKNAME}. And...
or
What do you mean by \"child of humanity\"?
Melanta:
All who descend from the first ancestor shaped by the lord of all, and those born of that lineage, are called children of humanity. Even the artificial people of the Primordial Sea, granted special pardon, are counted among them.
Melanta:
But you... You stand outside this order.
Traveler:
Why did the god take my {M#sister}{F#brother}?
Melanta:
I cannot answer, because I do not understand it myself.
Melanta:
I once believed it was merely punishment for transgressions. But now I fear there is a deeper meaning behind it, as with the heretical myth that light and darkness birthed the primordial human.
Paimon:
Why are you suddenly answering all our questions so readily?
Melanta:
This is a rule engraved upon my very soul. When a human child offers up everything in pursuit of an answer, I must speak in the Creator's stead, and withhold nothing.
Melanta:
In the end, that human child will forget all things. Fleeting answers, eternal release — this too is an expression of divine mercy.
Paimon:
Then why are you being so harsh to the people in the Hall of Emptiness?
Melanta:
This, too, is law. With the Creator absent and the void fallen from grace, I must uphold the measure once set by my lord.
Melanta:
This place exists only to preserve. All innovation, all evolution, is forbidden here.
Here.

brother of abyss????

I also read that Asmoday is quite clumsy in the art of creation. And everything he creates is an imitation of what was created by the Heavenly Principles.

I found some gameplay of Asmoday's Space. Apparently, you access the place from Mondstaft, and we have to cross what I assume is the false sky to get there.

Should Columbina be able to have Descend Physiology? The Three Moon Goddesses are to Nibelung what the Four Shades are to the Heavenly Principles. The three sisters are called "the will of the planet," the "shadows of his majesty" (Nibelung).

this was literally my argument. If shades gets one then Moon goddessses should get one by same reasoning.

No, shades can get because they are literally shadows/emanations of phanes himself. while the moon goddesses are not, they are just the will of the earth that is lifted to the moon. they are not shadows of the nibelungs or anything. the case of shades and the moon goddess is completely different

They are. Nicole refers to them as the Shadows of the Planet, which are manifestations of Nibelung's will and majesty.

So in the new event Eula and Clorinde both talk about sparring each other. Any chance this would impact the current scaling we have for Mondstant and Fontaine?

It should be noted that he created them before he became a descender so i guess they wouldn't count for it?

Yes, they are indeed shadow planets, are they descenders planets?? No
do you want to consider columbina decenders? i don't even understand how that could happen hahaha
"Extensions of his will, manifestations of his majesty."

It literally says something almost similar to what is said about the Four Shades. Not that they are just shadows of the planet. That is ignoring the context.

You can't become a Descender. If Nibelung is one, he always was. Rene tried to become one and couldn't, and he theorizes that a Descender can come from Teyvat, and we're talking about someone who based his research on knowledge of Kaenria'h.

i mean as current scaling both are 7-C
Do i most certain that Clorinde would get some upscaling via Fontaine Childe, so unless they state to go all out, not really

Actually Clorinde is 7-B now thanks to this thread while Eula (and most of the Mondstant cast) are 7-C

You cannot become a Descender if Nibelung is one. He always has been. Rene tried to become one and couldn't.
Thats not how it works
Nibelung wasn't a descender until he brought the abyssal energy with him. Wouldn't make sense if he was the 2nd Descender but litterally was born with the Planet of Teyvat like a lot of years before Phanes even wander near by
So yeah someone can achieve a descender status post entering Teyvat Rene just failed to achieve that

This doesn't make any sense. Being a Descender implies the following:

• Transcending and changing destiny.
• Having the will to create, sustain, protect, and destroy the world.
• Having an affinity for and the ability to use Teyvat's Elemental Power (The Traveler and Paimon theorized this).

If Nibelung is a Descender for returning to Teyvat with the power of the abyss, it means that anyone who arrives in Teyvat with sufficient abyssal power is also a Descender.

Skirk comes from outside and is just an outsider, Rene tried to become a Descender and failed twice.

The Heavenly Principles are listed as the first Descender, even though their system of laws did not yet exist in Teyvat. This is because the Three Moon Sisters called him that when they welcomed him as a guest.

Then there is Nibelung, who returned after the remodeling of Teyvat.

Then there is Saaralainen, who I assume belongs to Teyvat. Because the Hymns of the Far North do not portray him as a foreigner.

The last is the Traveler. Who comes from outside Teyvat, is an outsider but also a Descender.

There is no proof that being a Descender is a status that can be achieved. Unlike a predefined state of being.

Although I prefer not to discuss the Descenders. Considering that there is not as much information about them as we would like.

Yeah because she doesnt have the will nor interacts with Teyvat, making her existence barely noticeable
There is no proof that being a Descender is a status that can be achieved.
If Nibelung is a Descender
The whole point of Nibelung just being consider a Descender post space walk kinda argues back against it.
Lets make this simpler:
- If Descender is something u are born with, why wasnt Nibelung consider the 1st Descender? Because as we know his existance predates Phane's. He only became Descender for events of Funerary Years

You cannot become a Descender if Nibelung is one. He always has been. Rene tried to become one and couldn't.
But we know that's not how it works, we are basically told by Surtalogi in Skirk's trailer that Skirk does have the potential to become a Descender (him saying that she is "not worthy of the title of Descender yet") , meaning it is a status that can be acquired.

Rene failing to become a Descender doesn't mean no one can, it just means he specifically wasn't able to/couldn't.

When he tells her she isn't yet worthy of such renown, he's referring to the fact that she isn't—because he had to help her enter Teyvat; she's just a intruder. In Kaenria'h, they tried to create Descenders because they wanted every outsider from beyond Teyvat to "transcend the gods," but that never happened. Rene didn't just try once. He tried twice. And both times he failed.
