General Godzilla Discussion

What are you guys favorite era though? Like showa, monsterverse, etc...
Hard to decide, i actually really like all of the era of Godzilla.....well except TriStar but Zilla jr saved it
But for the most impactful is the Heisei Era, i remember all of the movies was aired in my local tv when i'm still a toddler, Godzilla vs Destoroyah haunted me so much back then lel
And then Millenium Era, but mostly only know Godzilla 2000 and Final Wars
MonsterVerse i really love the worldbuilding of it, the movies are great but if i can chose, Godzilla 2014 and Godzilla vs Kong are my fave
Which is the best one in your opinion?
For Showa, Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla vs Hedorah, and Terror of Mechagodzilla
Heisei i love every movies of it to inches
Millenium, GMK, Kiryu Saga, and Final Wars
MonsterVerse i already said it above
Reiwa, Shin Godzilla and Singular Point (tho the latter is understandable why peoples got turned off by it, the higher dimensional nerd talks is too much lmao)

1954 and 1955 movies are definitely some of my favorites. Otherwise, not a big fan of Final wars due to the human plot being weird and a bit of a Matrix copy in action scenes. I found the kiryu saga fun though not a fan of Godzilla getting beat up. Surprisingly i liked the 1999 and 2001 movie.
Heisei i like as a whole, though top ones are probably Godzilla vs Biollante and Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla.

Opinions on monsterverse?

banger.
2014 is good though too much humans.
skull island is fire
2019 is giga satisfying
GvK is some of the best monster on monster action ever
You get me

Why’d you cross out the objectively best Godzilla movie?
In order not to be socially rejected, but jokes aside, honestly I really like that movie and I have a special affection for it since thanks to it I discovered the world of Godzilla and the kaijus, plus for me it will always be Zilla

Showa might be my favorite overall

Hesei is cool, though it kinda focuses more on a return to the intense and threatening animalistic Godzilla, while Showa is funny as hell and is more of a humanoid version of Godzilla. Also gotta appreciate how many iconic moments there are in showa compared to every other era
Godzilla’s moon dance, the Godzilla flight, the drop kick, godzilla’s force pull, the beam struggle, Godzilla eating kong’s tree, and the whole monster gang beating the shit out of ghidorah in destroy all monsters.
And also Anguirus was abandoned after hesei, which I just can’t forgive. He’s an absolute bro, to the point where he recognized mechagodzilla as a fake instantly and fought for his life to destroy an impostor. That’s the dynamic duo that every other era is missing.
Don't forget Anguirus and Godzilla's Benny Hill fight in Godzilla Raids Again. =P

While I have seen the Monsterverse movies and enjoyed them a lot, I kinda have a soft spot for the Showa era. Mostly has to do with the reason I started watching Godzilla movies was because my little nephew was a huge fan of the Godzilla character, but was too young to watch more modern movies, so we just started with the older ones because the old effects and goofy charm could be a good compromise. Now he's outgrown the whole thing, but it kinda stuck with me (also Mothra and Rodan's movies).

Not to mention that I honestly think the original Godzilla was a pretty good movie, not in the sense of fun and enjoyable, but straight up good IMHO. I was legit caught off guard with how it actually treats itself more like a tragedy and horror film than a kaiju film. And while it had its things like dated effects (which I actually really like) and overly dramatic performances (which I also loved, tbf), it had a lot of substance to it and something that's rather rare in later films, a memorable human character in Serizawa.

Shin Godzilla is basically just a modern 1954 adaptation, thanks Ano

So would you like me to add you as a supporter of the MonsterVerse/Godzilla?

Anno though is a lot more cynical and blunt about his low opinion on burocracy and political incompetence than the 54 movie, lol. Kinda like:

54: We can use the oxygen destroyer to save us this time, but is it worth it? Will this power then lead us to destroy ourselves anyways? For is in human nature to be easily corrupted by power.

Anno: Gojira is destroying our city and our bosses are morons. All non-morons here follow me, let's get this shit done.

Sure, I had forgotten about Supporters and such =P

I know it's a joke at this point but how did he even come up with Shinji in this case-
