General Godzilla Discussion

What does shin mean exactly (new?)

cause I saw the word in the upcoming movie shin Kamen rider
Correct, Shin means "new" in Japanese as far as I'm concerned.

FYI? I would heavily recommend watching Shin Godzilla at some point in time if you enjoyed the 1954 movie, it really does a good job at making Godzilla a force of nature that he was depicted as in the first flick and the movie really makes you sympathize with the big G a little. There is a lot of dialogue with humans but it's still really well made and definitely one of my favorite movies in the series.

Showa might be my favorite overall

Hesei is cool, though it kinda focuses more on a return to the intense and threatening animalistic Godzilla, while Showa is funny as hell and is more of a humanoid version of Godzilla. Also gotta appreciate how many iconic moments there are in showa compared to every other era
Godzilla’s moon dance, the Godzilla flight, the drop kick, godzilla’s force pull, the beam struggle, Godzilla eating kong’s tree, and the whole monster gang beating the shit out of ghidorah in destroy all monsters.
And also Anguirus was abandoned after hesei, which I just can’t forgive. He’s an absolute bro, to the point where he recognized mechagodzilla as a fake instantly and fought for his life to destroy an impostor. That’s the dynamic duo that every other era is missing.

To be fair, it's mainly because the Kyodai Hero boom like Ultraman that made Godzilla in Showa Era is more humanoid which is good and entertaining and yes, Showa Era has the most iconic scenes on it
At least for Anguirus, he returned in Singular Point lel

Godzilla earth has a top tier design and abilities, and I also love ghidorah and mechagodzilla from the trilogy, but the movies themselves are only average really.
It's not even average, below even, heck i would harshly call it trash
They wasted so many concept potential for it and the human characters writting are bad as heck
Seriously, they made Urobuchi lose his touch which i'm pissed off with
