Final Fantasy Discussion Thread

I used an image to text extractor so it might have turned out weird
anyway here
Okay, here's a few:
Time Mage
  • A magic adept who controls time and space. A specialization of White Magic.
  • In the past, only two types of magic existed: White Magic and Black Magic. Later, however, new movements emerged to study further subdivisions of magic. As a result, White Magic specialists that only dealt with time and space began to appear. They were the Time Mages. At first they weren't well known to the public, however, the number of them who played active role assisting in battles from behind the scenes increased, leading they reputation to grow.

Time Magic (In Japanese is Space-Time Magic, but this is the localized term)
  • Obtain the power to freely control time and space.
  • Magic that can freely manipulate time and space by using magical energy. Spells that control time, such as "Stop" or "Old" assist allies with their offensive, while spells to control space, like "Meteor" or "Banish" can also cause natural disasters, making them effective for taking down foes.

Berserker
  • Fierce barbarians who keep fighting by relying on their strength and stamina.
  • Barbarians still lead a primitive lifestyle of hunting, following their customs passed down since time immemorial. Of fierce fighting spirit and ferocious personality, they will attack without mercy anyone perceived as an enemy. They also possess strong bodies that can adapt to any environment. Among them, those who can wield weapons are called Berserkers and are praised as brave heroes.

Mystic Knight
  • Well-versed in both swordsmanship and magic, this legendary swordsman combines the two into one.
  • Once upon a time, there was a legendary magical warrior who mastered many forms of magic and excelled in swordplay. One of the blood relatives in his family created the Spellblade, a skillful fusion of both magic and swordsmanship, which were incredibly difficult to wield simultaneously. Only a few members of the family could master both. For this reason, they earned the title of Mystic Knights to represent their kin.

Here's the rest:

Spellblade
  • A technique that skillfully combines magic and swordsmanship.
  • The Spellblade follows a different principle from that of traditional magic. Instead of attacking directly with magical power, attacks are performed by imbuing the wielded weapon with said effect. It's possible to use either Black or White Magic, making the power of the blade carrying either of these attributes immense against enemies with weak points.

Summoner
  • Mages who are knowledgeable in the Phantom World, being able to command Summons at will.
  • After the discovery of the existence of the Phantom World, home of the Summons, many studies about its mysteries were carried out. Then, one mage who had become familiar with the Phantom World succeded in calling forth Summons into the real world. Afterwards, people who could take the power carried by Summons in combat and convert it into offensive power appeared. The Summoner Job began to gain recognition.

Summon
  • Magic that brings out the full power of Summoned Beasts
  • Magic that brings forth Summons from the Phantom World to assist in battle. It greatly differs from Black, White and Time Magic, which mainly utilize the power of nature. Many Summon attacks from level 2 onwards are effective against multiple foes, making them effective for wiping out enemy groups.

istg if that IX remake leak is real…
I don't know what to believe at this point. It has been rumored since 2020-21, but there were also rumors of a FF Tactics Remaster, a XIII Remaster and some other stuff that turned out to be false. There was also the FFIX series that was going to be made by a French studio.

I'm hoping it's just the gaming press spreading rumors again because Squenix just released a 25th ann. site for IX. https://jp.finalfantasy.com/ffix25th

These new merch figurines look sleek af too.

So far they've only announced merchandise and the like. Perhaps there will be a rerun of the collab with FFVII Ever Crisis?

I'm mostly being optimistic and hoping there's a unannounced surprise in the waiting.

If I would like to read Cosmali, which thread must be read? Or read this thread?
That doesn't cover everything of FF, just some of it. It's a massive verse in scope so there's gonna be alot more information then just that, but everything in that thread will be used and acknowledged when the time comes.

I think the ideal time for an overall cosmology blog is when we either finish the Ivalice games or FF14, because we’ve covered more than half of the mainline series so far for individual upgrades, but with either of those having some pretty relevant information like the alternate worlds and Gilgamesh as a whole, we should be ready by then. The actual tiering of the series when we do the cosmology is gonna be a whole nother topic.

Some people on the wiki have finished FF14, there's not much from that game that can be used to upgrade the cosmology

Upgrading the cosmology isn’t my concern, it’s solidifying the cosmology in the first place.

How many dimensions are the FF now?

I found 11 dimensional tower. And 14 -dimensional flora and fauna
animalsIt appears that aspects of the aquatic flora and fauna of Dimension 14,
The facility they sent here this time is a tower of legend in Dimension 11.

Is there any further context for this? Without anything else it doesn't sound like they're being categorized based on their dimensionality.

I feel that covering the Ivalice/XII titles is a less sisyphean task. I'm a huge fan of Final Fantasy XIV myself, but properly indexing it is a massive undertaking due to the sheer scale of content across its expansions - even just covering the core elements is a significantly large project.

But hey, I'll gladly talk XIV any day.

@Wonder_of_Fantasy The Amano cards for FF6 are my favorite MTG cards, especially Terra and Kefka.

Ivalice as a whole has like 6 games to tackle so I feel like both sides would be equally challenging to cover.

At least with Ivalice we have a head start with Tarta's revision over Tactics and which will cross scale to other games in the Ivalice alliance like FF12.

then we still have like 5 more games to get through, which isn't an easy task.

I never said FF9 isn’t important, I said if we’re to do a cosmology blog we need to cover games that has some explanation on the overall cosmology, and Ivalice from what little I’ve seen looks important enough to describe how connected the worlds are given Cloud shows up there.

Tactics Advance, Grimoire of the Rift, FFXII, Revenant Wings and Vagrant Story, correct?
Has anyone else seen the new art in the MTG FF set? I'm really loving the IX cards.
There's a MTG collab?!

And the fact that as long as FFXIV keeps doing well it will keep getting content. At least the Ivalice alliance are concrete games and given they're all old, they aren't extremely long like modern ones.

I actually got FFXII: Zodiac Age for my Switch a while ago so I can begin covering that in the future. The issue are the other titles. While I guess I can just emulate Tactics Advance, Grimoire of the Rift and Revenant Wings are more of a pain given my DS is busted and AFAIK they haven't been ported.

This has made me very happy.

Yeh... the moment of that announcement was a good day indeed.

Yep, those are the magic 5 we have left. Once those are done, we should try to work together on compiling a cosmology blog for the series. Then all future revisions where the entire franchises gets buffed in some way becomes easier to explain.
