After catching up with David, I figure a tactical approach would be best.

I start lining up the house with C4, and while I'm at it, I use perception to see if there are any signs of him being there

I quickly search practically every part of the house

The house is in fact a house, with a kitchen, computer room, living room, and a laundry room

I head to the computer room

Shockingly, there is a computer. It's turned off.

I turn on the computer

It's password locked.

I finish setting up the C4

"You should probably wrap up your search. He's likely not here, but, for one, C4 can't just go un blown up, and we'd probably want his base out of commission anyways."

You find several innocuous files, one folder labeled "Math", one called "Finance, and another called "Bullet"

I open all 3

Opening the bullet file, you're blasted back by a bullet to the face and are knocked into the wall.
