To quote from the Earthquake Calculations page:

'This method should be used if an earthquake is caused through the impact of a meteor or through an event very similar to that.'

What would be some clear examples of something very similar to this?

I don't know, but some calculations that a meteor is said to cause complete destruction are using the earthquake method (Exemple is this)

My guess is that it refers to an object that slams into the earth with large kinetic force and causing an earthquake, despite technically not being a meteor. Maybe something like Superman being slammed to the earth from cloud level at relativistic speed, causing an earthquake.
