EarthBound good characters resistance

Why doesn’t the good characters in EarthBound have resistance to Giygas’ influence??:

Passive Mind Manipulation, Corruption (Type 2) and Empathic Manipulation (His presence alone caused beings who are mostly evil, or also amoral ones like inanimated objects, for example lamps, dolls or cars, to act under his control and become violent across allthe Earth. Corrupted Porky Minch, making him his servant)

Ness, Paula, Lucas, and etc. should gain this resistance

You said it yourself here. Giygas' influence only works on people/animals that are evil/animalistic and some regular objects. Porky Minch must've had evil thoughts too, which would explain why he got corrupted.
