Doom Eternal Revision Thread Part 4

Not open for further replies.
I think we have a policy on having to wait until things release before being allowed to make revisions.

Here is the sitch, heavy DLC spoilers below. If you are planning to play the DLC, it would be worth experiencing the story yourself, so don't read the spoilers if you are going to play it.
  • Awakening the Icon of Sin in Urdak broke the seal to the demon's world and broke the balance between the two dimensions, and the demons who now control Urdak want to use it as a pathway for new conquests since it is a higher dimension, which is why the demons now threaten all of existence.
  • The Doom Slayer wants to Seraphim's help to seal Urdak, and the Seraphim is hidden in an ARC offshore facility, and this is considered ARC's most closely guarded secret. ARC employees under Dr. Hayden teleport the Doom Slayer into the facility.
  • The Seraphim is called "right hand of the Father" and he needs to be resurrected with a 'Seraphim chamber key". The facility is set to self-destruct five seconds after the chamber key is removed and explosions partially sinks the facility. After the Doom Slayer places the key to unlock a chamber holding the Seraphim's body, Dr. Hayden says he'll transfers his consciousness like VEGA did, and it is (unsurprisingly) officially confirmed that Dr. Hayden is a Seraphim, and this is a secret only a few within ARC knew. The Seraphim can teleport without using a portal, but according to ARC employees he is not well and no one can figure out what is wrong with him.
  • The Doom Slayer is sent to retrieve the Father's life sphere in the Blood Swamps of Hell in order to bring him back into a physical form. The Seraphim says that his body is undergoing rapid Transfiguration, which is why he needs the Father. Maykers can't set foot in the Dark Realm, but the Seraphim says he will await the Doom Slayer in the summit. The Doom Slayer sets his mission objective to destroy the Father's life sphere to the dismay of an ARC intern. The key to the Father's tomb leads to the origin of his realm and the entrance exists on the crest of a mountain. Hundreds of Night Sentinel warriors died just to try to meet the Father.
  • Using the key of the Father's tomb awakens a Titan who carries the Doom Slayer up the mountain which has clear skies. The Seraphim is there and asks the Doom Slayer to retireve the sphere in order to save him. The Doom Slayer crushes the sphere, and the Seraphim collapses on the ground. The Doom Slayer walks to a dark sphere; the Dark Lord says: "You feel you are prepared now... for this.". The intern says that this is the Dark Lord life sphere and warns that he will take physical form if the Doom Slayer takes it, which he does.
  • The intern helps the Doom Slayer reach Urdak using the Dark Lord's life sphere, and concludes that the Doom Slayer is doing this in order to kill the leader of demons once he takes physical form, which will destroy all demons for good. The intern says that it is written that the Dark Lord is like a decillion years old, and hasn't been conjured into any physical form for that long. According to Dr. Hayden's files the Dark Lord can't be killed until he takes physical form. The demons will accept the Doom Slayer because anyone who managed the acquire a life sphere from the swamp earned the right to pass through to the Luminarium to insert which ever sphere they have, so no demons are fought and according to the intern they will actually help him do it no matter who is awakened.
  • VEGA confirms that he is the Father, and while he has indefinite access and understanding of Urdak's systems, he lacks the control needed to remove the demons and re-seal the void. Without a physical body he is merely a presence, but believe that his essence from the sphere will return him to his full faculties. He is unaware that the Doom Slayer has the Dark Lord sphere and thinks that the Doom Slayer came in order to resurrect him. Intern says that according to the Corrax Tablets, killing the Dark Lord will destroy any demon outside of their world.
  • The Doom Slayer encounters the Seraphim, and he fights the Doom Slayer using lightning attacks and possessed demons. The Seraphim is defeated, and the Father says that the Seraphim was his servant who removed him from Urdak under his command. The injured Seraphim teleports while the Father says that ending his life is unneccessary. The Father says that the consequences of the Doom Slayer's actions are irreversible.
  • Two Maykrs dressed like the Seraphim take the Dark Lord Sphere into a platform. The Father says that the Dark Lord is the leader of Hell's armies; he is not a king, but a warrior of the Dark Realm. A muscular man with demonic engravings/tattoos is manifested, the symbols include the Mark of the Doom Slayer. The Father says that only the fierciest and strongest can rule over the demons. The Dark Lord is an evil version of the Doom Slayer in their world (The Dark Slayer?).
So... discussions about Tier 2 Doom Slayer are now no longer a joke...

Full codex didn't come to light, but a 'Book of Seraphim part 1' says that the Father created everything and that he created various realities.

By the way, we should seriously consider giving the Doom Slayer Dimensional Storage; he manifests and dispels weapons and items out of no where during cutscenes.
I am also against Self-Sustenance Type 1, since the Doom Slayer has a limited oxygen supply, can't stay under water indefinetly, and can be heard breathing.

Depending on how Doomguy beats the Dark Lord (assuming he does), Doomguy might actually be Tier 2 or 1 as the Dark Lord is, Davoth, the guy who literally controls Hell.

Also, doomguy lacks info analysis and hacking via vega, vega gives information to the slayer at various times and also Vega hacked the BFG10000 since it did initially not fire until vega gave control to the Slayer

Wait Davoth?
Yes, the Dark Lord is Davoth. One of the new Codex entries states it.

Think of Davoth as Doom's version of Lucifer. The Father allowed Davoth to rule Jekkad, a dimension beyond even Urdak, which eventually became Hell.
Davoth is the only being in Jekkad that had immortality (I think) and hated having to watch his people die so he and his people started craving immortality and envy the Father who had immortality. This eventually led to Davoth consuming and corrupting worlds that the Father created and the Father sealing Jekkad away to stop Hell's consumptions of worlds. The Father then went to Jekkad and ripped out Davoth's life sphere which separated him from a physical form and somehow nerfed Davoth but the Father decided to spare him as he was once the Father's favorite or something. Now Davoth is back in a physical form and assumingly is as powerful as he was before the Father took his physical form and life sphere.

This DLC also confirms that the Father created everything in the Doom multiverse.

Added the text of the DLC's codex, dig in:

The Doom Slayer is so getting upgraded after Part Two.

A small interjection about the cheat codes, specifiecly pertaining to the buff sphere ones. We have a time limit listed on them because of the game mechanic time limit, why shouldn’t list the unlimited time ones since it’s a game mechanic too?

Honestly, people should wait for it to be out for a while before discussing weather or not Tier 2/1 scaling is legit.

Just finished the DLC. Not gonna lie. I had trouble trying to beat some parts. The new enemies with CC can be brutal in group fights.

There's stuff to unpack in the new lore.

I think we should get the other stuff out of the way before creating new topics for the DLC.

The enemy the Doom Slayer is facing is most likely Tier 1/2, but no evidence that the Doom Slayer is currently equally as powerful (Doom Slayer thinks he is ready to beat him, but a Doom Slayer who doesn't hold back is featless). I suspect that in Part 2 a fight happens in the Luminarium which destroys it along with the device made to resurrect gods, and the Doom Slayer gets defeated in the beginning of the DLC. The Doom Slayer then seeks the life spheres of the ancient/primeval gods and absorbs them to get a major power-up.

If the Doom Slayer becomes as powerful as a primeval god, then he would supposedly have (or at least resist) creation feats, which is more than being super tough.

For the DLC itself, there is possibly more lightning dodging and Non-Physical Interaction, but I don't recall any notable feats aside from confirmation that the Doom Slayer's durability is > shark-level. Maybe there are a couple of misc large size calculations.
I say we just summarize the new lore, and then return to the standard revisions.

Also is there any reason to believe Davoth is at his prime?

The lightning feat and stuff could be solid (Any properties of lightning?)

I agree wth tackling the standard stuff tho

Tbf,the only thing that happened to Davoth was having his “life sphere” ripped out of him and becoming “whispers”.He basically just got ripped out of his physical shell to interact with reality and the lore not stating or implying any reduction of power.

Still I somehow doubt they'll write Slayer as being able to take a Universal being without an amp of some kind

For simplicity, let's try to finish up anything related to Classic Doomguy first.

Marauders scale to the sentinels and the sentinels have shown the ability to take on multiple barons. The only argument against DG having acausality is the semantics of how non specific the statement is to the types of acausality we have listed. Which is pretty weak considering we have plenty of charters that have unique versions of acausality put just label the type they have the most in common with. Dovahkiin being a prime example and the other Prisoners being a prime example

For Classic Doomguy, don't think Immortality Type 2 applies. Unless he survived getting his heart or head stabbed, this is just a good Stamina feat. Even Guts with the Berserk armor only gets Limited immortality type 2.
