Speaking of rhat, why did they make evolution unnatural and temporary in the anime? Frontier was the only season where you saw Digimon naturally evolving.

VenomMyotismon is only Satanic is design. He's a Vampiric beast.
There's also the thing where he Digivolved on the 6th hour of the 6th day of the the 6th month. I'm surprised they kept in the whole bit with Matt's father describing what the "Number of the Beast" meant in the dub.

Digimon got away with so much crap when it came to TV. Digimon was actually really dark. It still is, I mean CS and Appmon showed us that.

Guilmon fun, adorable, bread-loving OC that basically everyone likes now.

@Zeed

Primarily to necessitate why humans are required for the plot in the first place (Human-Digimon bonds = Digivolution) and preserve the cuteness factor of the Rookie-level partners for toy purposes.

@Dark

I don't recall that at all. That said, they didn't have much time to chat given that the multiverse was at stake and all.

Now that I think about it, yeah. Saban was cool with most the religious symbolism in Digimon. From the first arc, they left Angemon and Devimon uncensored, then eventually 666 becoming a plot point, Angewomon, MagnaAngemon, SkullSatamon, Lucemon, etc. Only the more direct religious stuff got censored, and usually only in minor ways (Holy Angels > Great Angels, Holy Knights > Royal Knights).

Imagine if 4kids got ahold of it instead, they would edit out Angemons wings and replace his name with "Goodmon" or something, lol.

Edit: Not to mention all the crap in Tamers. Out of everything, the only things I remember getting censored was the terrorism reports and Takato getting bullied.

Except C'Mon Digimon, the V-Pet books, V-Tamer, and World 1 predated the anime

@Cal

Appmon gets dark too. Between conspiratorial intrigue, converting humans into data, attempted murder multiple times, child experimentation, torture, and transmutation, familial issues, idol pressure e.t.c.

Let's not forget the whole Haru and Yujin subplot. That was more sad than dark, but y'know.

If Daemon and Lilithmon are the demon versions of Seraphimon and Ophanimon then what would be Cherubimon's demon version?
Perhaps Deathmon. He is beast-like and his profile says that "Like Demon it was originally a high-ranking Angel Digimon, but it fell to the Dark Area and is now one of the Demon Lord Digimon."

Rival was a poor choice of words on my part, I more so meant 'other half', give Daemon is supposed to be a corrupted Seraphimon. Thanks for the info, I forgot about the V-Tamer connection.

By the way, in the Xros Wars crossover, did Takato ever mention to Taichi how he's just a cartoon character where he's from?
In the Xros Wars crossover he didn't, but in the Adventure PSP crossover Guilmon mentions that Takato has a Taichi wallpaper in his room, and Takato says "shut up!". Meaning, he doesn't want to be seen as a fanboy.

According to this interview, Kakudou felt that permanent evolution didn't work well with the story he wanted to write. He also asked for freedom of writing whatever he wanted in the anime, that's why Adventure is unfaithful to the lore: the guy did that on purpose to tell the story he wanted to tell.

Watanabe and Volcano Ota (creators of the Digimon concept) didn't like this at first, but accepted it when they saw the potential to make the evolving toys.

Of note, they removed all Kakudou's writing freedoms in X-evolution (said in that interview as well), so they still weren't happy with what Kakudou did in Adventure, it seems.

Techically Cherubimon Vice is the Demon Cherubimon Virtue.
Nope. Black Seraphimon, Cherubimon Vice and Ofanimon: Falldown Mode, are a sort of "half-stage" between an angel and a demon, according to Black Seraphimon's profile.

Speaking of names. My favorite name origin is Dorumo or in Japanese DORUmon

Digital OR Uknown MONster

It symbolizes how Dorumon can either become a normal Digimo or an Unknown Digital Lifeform.

Dexmon: Origin: Digimon D-Cyber

... that is inaccurate. The guy debuted a year before D-Cyber, in the usually ignored Chronicle storyline.
