I must interject and say, Netflix Not Dante doesn't appear to be gay.
Besides, gay characters like Bulat go out in a blaze of glory and heroic sacrifice, proving that being gay is not at all a barrier to being cool. Meanwhile Donte just thinks it's cool to write swear words on people's notepads and Netflix Dante just kind of gets frozen and fails at most of what he tries. Granted his failures are because someone is actively taking his autonomy away from him at every turn, but that just brings us to other problems.
The trick will be what happens after this with the show. Other shows, especially disrespectful adaptations, have started out with decent numbers and then dropped off, especially from losing faith with the audience. In this case Shankar seems to be very much adding to that problem.
