DCU General Discussion Thread

One thing I love in profiles that isn't done a lot on this wiki is profiles of collective groups.

If we get to see enough of Krypton and it's tech we could make a profile for kryptonians.

Too little to say anything. Hal got shafted so hard after that movie.

Seeing him already so old before JL even becomes a thing is kinda weird.

Good news everybody. 🙏🙂❤️

Tbh Ant, I won't believe any news until it final. DCU is very new and James Gun & other person (whose name i don't remember now) has contact as head of dcu till 2026 or 27 i think, I think the deal will no be completed till late of 2026. Head of DCU can be changed after the contract is completed. I am still waiting for final news and which company will acquire hbo.

Well, I really hope that David Ellison, who is completely committed to enforcing the agendas of the Trump-administration, will not gain control over the DC Comics characters. 🙏

can you tell me why it is bad if David Ellison get control of dc comics characters ?, I don't know much about American Politics tbh

Because he is part of an oligarch family that is fully supportive of the agendas of the Trump administration, which in turn is fully committed to far right extremist, ultranationalistically supremacist, divisive tribalist, xenophobic, hatemongering, extreme inequality-enforcing kleptocratic absolute greed and exploitation, totalitarian oligarchy, unregulated corruption, swindling scam artist, casually murderous imperialistic, absolutely amoral agendas, and I don't want symbols of inspirational goodness to be twisted into indoctrinating propaganda for pure satanic evil.

For further information, please see how I handled my character "The Veteran" in the "Vile Fables For Progressive Children" story I wrote long ago. I think that superheroes would become almost exactly like that under the Trump administration's control. 🙏

I don't think they care much about DC. WB has a lot of news channels they wanted control over.

Also those are lot of words you could have just summed up by saying "Trump wants to control the news around his governance"

Yes, probably true, but I was asked a question, and tried to honestly answer it. My apologies. 🙏

I'm a bit skeptical that this statement was actually referring to the Jimmy Olsen series, considering it doesn't seem like it'd be far enough in production. I feel like we're more likely to see the Blue Beetle animated series make a late 2026 release date. I guess there's also a chance that the Mister Miracle series actually is set in the DCU, and that's what Gunn was referring to.

I would guess it’s Blue Beetle too. Iirc, Xolo Maridueña said they were hoping for a 2026 release date.

Using the DCEU and DCU wikis for reference, this should be all the firearms used by Peacemaker that have existing profiles on the VS Battles wiki:

A few interesting bits from a new interview with James Gunn:

What made “Superman” the hardest film you’ve directed?

This was the hardest movie I’ve ever made. The next hardest was probably the first “Guardians.” With “Guardians,” you were building a corner of the universe that felt completely different from everything else Marvel was doing at the time. Here, I was reorienting something everyone already thinks they understand. Strangely, it’s the most comic-book-driven thing I’ve ever done. More than any of my other superhero films.

What can you tell us about “Man of Tomorrow?”

At its core, it’s about Clark and Lex. I relate to both of them. I relate to Lex’s ambition and obsession — minus the murder. And I relate to Superman’s belief in people, his Midwestern values. They’re two sides of me.

What does your partnership with Peter Safran bring to DC Studios?

Peter’s the best. He does everything I don’t do well. He keeps the ship steady, keeps everyone aligned, connects us with Jim Lee and the comics side, and unifies departments that used to operate separately. What we share is a genuine love for these characters. We know what a privilege it is to help shape how people see them now — and that responsibility is something we take seriously.

It is great that they genuinely love and wish to treat Superman and other positive superheroes with respect. 🙏❤️

I wonder what route they will take with Luthor. Reluctant hero or arch nemesis.

He was perfectly fine with instigating a war that could have killed millions of innocent people and potentially causing the end of life on Earth as a whole just out of an enormous supremacist sense of entitlement and overwhelming petty envy of an extremely nice humanitarian altruist. Those are not crimes that are realistically redeemable, especially not by a conscience-deprived enormous narcissist. 🙏

I’m fairly certain they’re not gonna portray Luthor as a hero after what he did in Superman.

Although, in-universe, I could definitely see Luthor helping to defeat Brainiac and then spinning that to get back into the public’s good graces.

Yes. That would make sense. 🙏

Yeah, I don't see DCU Lex getting a real redemption arc. I feel like at most he'd end up like his DCAU counterpart. If anything, Rick Flag Sr. seems far more likely to end up with a redemption arc based on what Gunn has stated in the past.
