DCU General Discussion Thread

It’s in the DCU. People are only talking about “connections” to The Batman saga because they want Robert Pattinson to be the DCU’s Batman.

There should only be one bridge to the Asylum. That too with Remote C4 strapped on the legs to sink it just in case.

Thanks. I was getting confused since he is supposed to be the villain of Part 2.

I am quite concerned that this may cause confusion for the normal movie goers

Gunn's output in the past few years is crazy, if you think about it. He's put out so much stuff in just the past three years, and yet pretty much all of it has been at least good.

I was thinking. Does the message of getting a harem apply to Kara too ?

Well we don’t know anything about Zor-El and Alura yet, but a reverse harem isn’t really practical, so like-

Part of the 2016 Suicide Squad being canonized wasn't on my bingo card for this episode, but alright. Really good episode, best one so far IMO.

I am a little confused though, didn't the Enchantress die at the end of that movie? I know June lived, but Rick Jr. seems to imply that she still has powers.

I mean I guess they never say (in SS 2016) that she didn't keep her abilities? At least I don't think they say that, I dont wanna watch it again to check. Also it doesn't matter anyway, things could have just happened differently in the DCU.

Pretty sure it’s just that things went differently in the DCU. SS 2016 definitely feels like the lightest of the light canon projects, I can’t imagine that much of it will be canonized.

If Enchantress is half canonized, shouldn't Supes upscale her?
I think we'd need to know more before that can happen. Right now all we know for sure is that Enchantress exists. If we get more / more explicit references to the events of SS 2016, that's likely when cross scaling could be considered.

Unless her blowing a hole through the planet can be calced, Superman can only really get a ‘likely far higher’ rating at this point. All we have of Enchantress at this point is a single name drop, I don’t think that’s enough to directly scale him above DCEU Enchantress.

Well tbf we should be precise with the wording, he said "burrow a hole through the planet" not "blow a hole". Blowing a hole would imply a more instant boom but burrowing as in dig a hole through the planet has an unknown timeframe

Yeah, fair. Either way, I don’t think it’s calcable without having a timeframe or knowing how big the hole would be, so Superman can only get a ‘likely far higher’ for now.

Yeah agreed thats basically it for now

It’s occurred to me that Suicide Squad (2016) being light canon means someone will have to rewatch that movie in order to properly revise Flag Jr. and Harley’s pages.

My condolences to whoever that ends up being

According to Jennifer Holland, there's at least one additional little detail from The Suicide Squad that doesn't fit in the DCU now:

"James and I knew the backstory when we were filming Season 1. We knew the backstory of Harcourt and Rick Flag. James had decided this about Harcourt from the beginning of the Peacemaker TV show. It didn't totally jive with the, you know — we're going to forget about the fact that they were betting on people winning or losing in The Suicide Squad. We're going to forget about that."

So, things from 2016 still exist, but they're not fully canon as Enchantress still exists (Given that June was free of by the end of the movie). Rick was also ride-or-die for June in that movie, but James Gunn's version of Rick is a bit of a playboy (Something shown off a bit in The Suicide Squad)

Idk how to feel about this retcon tbh because wouldn’t Harcourt still know that Flag was sent in with a group that were meant to be ambushed as a distraction anyways?

Also Peacemakers been great so far but it’s very funny to me that because of it we’re gonna have to add Suicide Squad 2016 to the list of movies that are “light canon” to the DCU 😭😭

If they really had their relationship in mind since Season 1, it definitely adds a lot of context as to why she's so standoffish wish Chris at first. Ya know, aside from the obvious. Her calling him a POS murderer in particular makes a lot more sense.

As for The Suicide Squad thing, I don't really think its all that incongruous unless she was betting against Flag surviving (that's what the bet was about, right? Been awhile since I watched the movie).

Kinda funny that the DCEU movie that's had the most lasting impact up to this point is SS 2016 of all things. More things either from that movie or that spawned from that movie have been maintained in the new continuity than anything else.

Is Keith (in his suit) being able to dive straight through that helicopter a noteworthy feat?

The action this episode was great. Smith was out here pulling John Wick level accuracy and didn't **** things up. Also again nudity jump scare.

For me it's:

  • Solo Superman film
  • Wonder Woman adaptation
  • Kyle Rayner-focused Green Lantern reboot
  • (Another) Batman reboot
  • Captain Marvel
Sixth project would be a JL crossover where Flash is introduced in the same movie.

It's nice to be reminded that despite being a total goober socially, he's still a highly competent badass when he's in his element.

I just noticed something. Everyone in this universe, well at least the town is White. Even the extras. And Kardashians don't exist or are not popular enough to be known.
Yeah, I think that's why the top trio are "good guys" but I think there will be a twist with the alternative earth people being super racist
