DCU General Discussion Thread

With the DCU officially beginning tomorrow, @UchihaSlayer96 and I had a chat about how to handle characters like Peacemaker whose DCEU incarnations will be semi-canon to the DCU.

Since Gunn has referred to Peacemaker S1 as being in a “different universe”, the new DCU versions of these characters will need to have new pages. The content from their DCEU pages that are still semi-canon (i.e. The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker S1) can be transferred over, but they will need to be new pages.

Also, for Rick Flag (and Harley, if she re-appears in the DCU), content from TSS can be put on their new pages, but everything from Suicide Squad (2016) would need to be removed, since that’s non-canon.

Probably the heights for each hero that appears (Based off their actors heights):
Superman - 6'4
Supergirl - 5'5
Hawkgirl - 5'1
Blue Beetle - 5'9
Green Lantern (Stewart) - 6'3
Green Lantern (Gardner) - 6'2
Green Lantern (Jordan) - 6'0
Metamorpho - 6'0
Mister Terrific - 6'1
Rick Flag Sr. - 5'10
Nina Mazursky - 5'7
Bride of Frankenstein - 5'7
(G.I Robot and Weasel are both played by Season Gunn who is 6'0 but I don't think that matters too much because it will mostly be for voice acting. He does play Maxwell Lord)
Doctor Phosphorus - 5'11 (Not even sure if he'll end up heroic, I think Alan said the show will show off how much of a psycho he is)
Eric Frankenstein - 6'3 (Certainly no hero, probably will be CGI in live action and looks a bigger than everyone else...Though David Harbour is the tallest among the voice cast, so)
Peacemaker - 6'1
Vigilante - 5'11
Emilia Harcourt - 5'5
Judomaster - 5'0 (Honestly, he could become a good guy. He was only the 11th Street Kids enemy due to believing in the Butterfly's cause. He'll probably play an antagonistic role afterward, like Rick Flag Sr. does. I hope we can get Katana in there as well)
Engineer - 5'5

Villains:
Lex Luthor - 6'3
White Dragon - 6'0
Circe - 5'6 (She's certainly taller in the show, I believe)
Krem of the Yellow Hills - 6'2

Finished the first two episodes last night. I can safely say the DCU is off to a fantastic start!
CC is very much a James Gunn show. If you like James Gunn shit, you'll love this. If not, then it's more than likely not gonna be for you tbf. Me personally? I'm all about that James Gunn shit lol, so yeah, I'm loving it so far.

Kinda wild how we already have a decent bit of feats and abilities from these two episodes alone.
Circe:
  • Telekinesis
  • Flight
  • Energy Projection
  • Teleportation
  • Transmutation
  • Superhuman physical characteristics (I think she reacted to gunfire after it was fired, and she was constantly going through walls in her fight against Bride)
  • Superhuman endurance/stamina (great pain tolerance being able to fight on even after being stabbed and getting her socks knocked off by Bride repeatedly)
The Bride:
  • Longevity (Has been alive since the 1830s)
  • Superhuman Physical characteristics (Can lift and throw beds, cars, etc. Can punch through walls and survive being rammed through them)
  • Acrobatics (Her scaling down the castle)
Frankenstein:
* Prolly same as Bride
Dr. Phosphorus:
  • Radiation Manipulation
  • Aura?
Nina:
* Underwater Breathing
GI Robot:
  • Inorganic Physiology
  • Weapon Mastery (likely)
Flag Sr.:
  • Superhuman Stamina/endurance (shrugged off all the burns he suffered during the Phosphorus fight. Can last, like, really long apparently)
  • Enhanced Rizz Manipulation
  • Some cool skill stuff

Since the Bride can lift and throw cars, does that mean she's 9-A or 9-B?

Also, Circe seems to have some resistance to Phosphorus's radiations since she merely gets badly burned whereas everyone else basically dies on the spot.

Both are 9-B but they have a few promising 9-A feats

Phosphorus and G.I. busting through the walls at Castle Frankenstein seem like solid 9-B feats, which also gives something for Flag Sr. to scale to before he appears in Peacemaker.

Phosphorus also reacting to bullets after they’re fired, and pretty casually at that, should be a pretty solid speed feat.

He could just be torturing her, he is meant to be a sociopath after all

That whole interview is full of really good info. Honestly, every new bit of info we get about this movie makes me even more hyped for it.

Also ez Class M feat
"It's a complicated relationship, and we really get into it and there's long scenes that are about their relationship and the way they relate and what it would be like for a person who's this incredibly intelligent, strong-headed, stubborn, skeptical journalist to have a relationship with someone who can lift a skyscraper."

This is so peak.

I'm so glad they won't be trying to set up future DCU entries through this movie. One of the biggest DCEU pitfalls imo was trying to force a cinematic universe into being without organically setting it up slowly. Non-intrusive Easter eggs are perfectly fine tho ofc.

Also love that we'll be thrown right into the middle of a Superman story without rehashing his origin story for the billionth time. Superman is, at bare minimum, in the top 3 most iconic superheros of all time. Everyone and their mother knows his origin story lol.

So, yeah, the more I hear from Gunn, the more I'm excited tbh.
