DC vs Marvel: Originality War

I mean his character development in Infinity Gauntlet really helped (that said they reverted him back to OG Thanos soon enough)

Of course they have to change them in some way, otherwise, we wouldn't see them as "great and original heroes" and would see them as "another very dumb rip-off."

He and Iron Man are way too different, the only thing they have in common is being rich, there's no comparison between the two, it's like trying to compare an apple to a fire hydrant because they're both red, it just makes no sense.

I'd say they were pretty similar when they started off, even if Iron Man has diverged since then. At least, that's what I've seen from my time reading the original Iron Man comics.

No, not really; Batman is a serious street level fighter with mental problems, Iron Man is a drunk asshole in a flying armor.

I don't think his alcoholism was eve touched on until "Demon is a Bottle", and that was in the 70s

And if it's a poor description there isn't any real reasoning for Iron Man being different than Batman in his early showings.

Whether or not something is a rip-off only really takes into account their beginning. You can rip something off without being a rip-off. And Iron Man kind of fits as a rip-off.

You can't just look at a character's beginnings and ignore everything else; well, I mean, you can, but that would be a terrible way to do so, since you must look at the beginning, middle and end to do an accurate analysis of the character in its entirety.

And even if you want to do it the more casual and lazy way, then add Kobra, they're similar enough; evils groups who use green and are named after reptilians.

I mean, if we used that definition, we'd also have to evaluate plot lines for originality as well, so chalk Marvel up for ripping of Crisis with Secret Wars (yes, Secret Wars was released first, but they rushed its creation when they heard about crisis)

And there would be no problem with doing that, since the story lines the character is part of is a really important part of the character (alongside morals, themes, design, personality, and other things like that).

Seriously, just saying "they're similar, so it must be a knock off" is such a disrespect to certain characters, and it is terrible character analysis, which is fine, don't get me wrong, not everybody has to take fiction so seriously, and that's totally ok, but if you're going to do that, at least be consistent; accepting Batman but not things like Kobra or the Terrifics is honestly bullshit. If you want to take this seriously and actually analyse every character, then do it all the way, if you just want to be more casual, then do it all the way, don't keep jumping back and forth, that's annoying.

What about that Marvel villain that is a movie maker and that DC villain that is an adult movie maker is one of them technically a ripoff of the other?

No ones been jumping back and forth. I said the way we did it as of now was through conception, which didn't apply to Kobe's whatsoever

Yes, it is jumping back and forth. Some of them we just look at the character and say "yeah, its a rip-off", some other we go search the reason why it was made, what inspired it, and other things like that.

Well, I wouldn't really know about that, so I'll take your word for it.
