Darkness (Konosuba) vs Goomba

Okay, so uhh... Here's the deal, right. So first, let's compare the two's AP:

Darkness: Upscales from 1.761 tons
Goomba: Downscales from 0.716 tons

So already there's a 2.5x AP gap, which is already looking like a stomp in Darkness' favor. Problem is Darkness is from Konosuba, and apparently the girls from that series had to be lobotomized in one way or another for some reason. It's got a bit of a reputation for that. In Darkness' case, she's a complete *********. As for the Goomba, they're as vulnerable as they are stupid. Explaining gravity to a Goomba is like telling a flat-Earther that the Earth is round as they would often fall off cliffs for no reason. They get flattened by someone jumping on their heads, making the mere concept of lifting strength an easy way to kill them. On the flip-side, they are one of the most battle-focused species in Bowser's forces.

So basically we have a crusader who's a dysfunctional pain-lover (apparently the M word is bad) against a creature with a serious vulnerability problem.

Where would that lead us? Darkness' Decoy would be useless since the Goomba would already be hellbent on attacking her to begin with. Soul manip is useless because that's just EXP stuff thus having no combat purpose. Which leaves us with a Power Mimicry thing that has zero justification attached to it. Like, what is that all about?

As for the Goomba, its stat amps very situational. Thorn Shot allows it to keep away from Darkness as it goes for about three times the Goomba's own height. The acrobatics part makes it more agile than Darkness, who doesn't seem to have that for whatever reason. Generally the Goomba is a better fighter in the variety department.

Stamina is hard to pinpoint. I think Darkness has the edge there since stealing her life force only annoys her and death spells just leave her with a hangover (or at least that's what the P&A section is telling me; the Stamina section doesn't justify jack squat).

Darkness upscales from being 2.5x stronger and has a much higher LS which is very important in a mu just about brute force. I think using a Koopa Troopa would be more fair to use since they have a slight bit more to work with.

I'm surprised our profile doesn't give it access to its equipment from TTYD. There are certain Badges & Items it can wield. (Though it will only spawn with one. The notable ones in this case, listed by the Mario Wiki, are Fire Flower & Sleepy Sheep, & one other resource claims Mini Mr. Mini as well, though there are others.)

However, it may not be valid to argue the use of those when they're not on the profile yet, especially since they're Paper Mario stuff.

If a Goomba were lifted, though, & left unable to charge, it MIGHT try to Thorn Shot her.
But then again, maybe it's game mechanics, but Goombas have been known to try to charge even when they can't reach their destination, so maybe it'd try to run while immobilized by Lalatina's hold.
& IIRC, Goombas only use Thorn Shot from a standstill in SMRPG.... Well, I guess being held could count for that.

But maybe Thorn Shot could make Darkness's grip falter?

Goombas ain't that dumb. They're pretty average in general. Game mechanics and actual canon (Rpg titles, Mario & Luigi, etc) have them no different from a normal person. And in some cases, not jump into the endless void like in Paper.

Which she never does

So she's never landing a hit unless the Goomba knocks the sword out of her hands, which it's not strong enough to do

And I'm pretty sure Goomba's at the perfect strength threshold for all of its attacks to uh... be enjoyable for Darkness (not strong enough to kill her outright, strong enough for it to hurt, and y'all know how she is)

so Goomba hits her and Darkness uhh... passes out eventually... maybe... and then Goomba kills her cuz why would he stop attacking it'll kill her eventually

I mean, the main reason why there isn't Paper Mario stuff in there is Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam essentially hard-separated the Mario and Paper Mario universes, and Origami King was more or less the final nail in the coffin.

I highly doubt Darkness won’t drop her sword till she literally dies from being slowly bludgeoned to death. She’ll have her fun then instantly ends the fight because she has the ap and lifting strength to dead stop the goomba. I think this is a stomp.

It's more likely she passes out from her own enjoyment before she actually starts caring about her own life. She's never really fought anyone in any capacity before, even in hand to hand. She's been routinely incapped by her own pleasure before

the issue is Goomba's strategies don't exclusively involve just headbutts and stuff, and not all goombas are as dipshit dumb as that either. I'm like 90% sure the whole "Goombas walking off cliffs" and "mario enemies walk forever mindlessley" thing is a game mechanic

She's never been embarassed by pain before, and if that's all Goomba's doing, I don't see her actually do anything about it until she passes out

It’s just going to kick and headbutt her, which would normally be an okay strategy, but darkness has every physical advantage and monsterous endurance. I imagine getting any damage approaching fatal should snap her awake from that, assuming she even finds this enjoyable. But she does have a sense of shame, the goomba’s main strategy of just walking hardly into the opponent feels like something she wouldn’t be dying (like from happiness) for. Though main point being she has a will to live and is like a sapient person. She won’t let herself literally be walked on to death. She’s not that dumb.

At the very least she’s not suicidal and often lets herself take a ton of punishment because she can actually take it. She’s there for pleasure to actually get pleasure, not there to let herself literally be murdered.
