Greetings, fellow giant robot fans. As you may have just noticed, I've decided to write a discussion thread of those classic mechas, or "super robots" around the 1970's to 80's. This ranges from Dynamic (Go Nagai mostly), Sunrise, et cetera. Maybe even much older kinds like Tetsujin, Giant Robo and Astroganger (who sadly isn't included above).

Despite being in a image with fellow SRW characters, Gundam already has a thread, though other "real robots" can be brought up here. Same goes to Transformers for being a iconic franchise by it's own rights.

Going by usual major subjects to prepare for:
  • Separating canons and cleaning profiles.
  • Revising verses like Getter Robo after their entire deletions. (a manga calc has been written up)
  • Discussing potential feats, calculations, scaling and pages. (I personally see the villain empires as civilizations with notable "monsters" like Minerva X & Getter Queen having own pages)
  • Additional stuff, whatever you want to talk about the genre.

The AP/Durability feats here I think might get Getter at most into Tier 8, though the speed ones are a bit more difficult to calculate since the clips begin a bit too late I think, or we don't see the satellite's exact position and size which would be a little helpful.

There's a better feat where a Mechasaurus drills from below the Earth's crust to the surface in 2 seconds, I think that probably gets casual tier 7
There's another feat where a satellite located in the graveyard orbit of the planet fires missiles at Earth, and Getter can react to them pretty easily

So is it not clear where that satellite is exactly? The gap between those two distances is immense...

It's clear it should be at least in the graveyard orbit, since they call it the graveyard and you can see space vehicle debris there. So at the very very least the low end is perfectly usable. The high end can be argued for, but it's a bit less substantiated.

And there ya go, we have City level and sub-relativistic Toei Getter
From the respect thread, I'm sure Mazinger will get around City and relativistic-FTL by itself, maybe continental with Grendizer scaling
Manga Mazinger has a direct "super hydrogen bomb" statement so I'm sure he'll get city-mountain
Manga Getter has a mountain feat I already calculated
(accidentally posted this in the wrong thread, lol)

Taking that into account and how the Warrior Beasts first dominated him very badly before being upgraded later on upon Koji's return (utterly destroying a whole army easily in Infinity), I feel like Mazinger should have two keys based on Super Alloy Z (City) and Super Alloy New Z (Continental) alongside a Infinity one when LiSA powered him up.

That movie even has the robot museum from another film called "UFO Robot Grendizer vs. Great Mazinger", where we see the two clashing that should provide aforementioned scaling in latter's part.

While we'll most likely add pilots in mecha pages, Toei Koji has enough material/equipment from a respect thread to guarantee his very own page, next to being a poster boy of hot-blooded heroes.

Should the individual Getter Robo profiles get a key for each formation? Getter 3 is physically stronger than the others, bur Getter 2 is the fastest, so how would that go

I would imagine that sort of thing would be simply stated in their profiles, especially if they're still relevant with one another.

Heh, I added Devilman on tags only because he feels like Nagai's arguably most famous creation (even though a super robot had the most influence), and there's that one (Getter got the manga). Helps for bringing in more people, as I've thought supporters could be well-versed with Dynamic mechas as well (like Ion back there and All Fiction Battles).

Grendizer's always been connected with Mazinger itself, especially in manga and Toei canons, alongside a new U anime coming up.

Just watched the same episode (36) where a 7-B feat came from (in short, Glanada E3 is capable of creating nuclear atomic bombs by devouring uranium and Mazinger survived one of them). It's ending had Sayaka, Shiro, Mucha and Nuke being quarantined as they were exposed to a lot of radiation inside Glanada, yet didn't look affected by it at all.

Are resistances scalable between humans?

List of the super robots that made an appearance as silhouettes in Shin Mazinger Zero.
Also just asking, but do you guys think an Ideon profile is possible?

Ideon would be fine to do as a profile, I still have all my notes, we'd just need to import my calcs and get clips for the feats.
Imo the Ideon lands on Large Star AP/durability and relativistic+

Tbf they could've been decontaminated or something, hence we don't see them suffer any ill effects.

But it's possible to scale resistances that way, at least through a "possibly resistance to x and x", I think.

I completely forgot about that crossover, I skimmed through it a long time ago but I didn't remember anything too impressive coming from it.

Actually, reading the manga, the anime is "partially canon" to the manga as there's events that the manga skips over and assumes you read the anime to find out how it happened.

For example, the manga doesn't introduce the Scrander, just assumes you watched the anime version of it and has it show up in Vol 4 unexplained
That's because the publications of the Mazinger manga are all messed up. The current available releases of Mazinger Z mix up the original Shounen Jump run of manga with a separate manga released for a TV Magazine in conjunction with the anime. Basically Kodansha started releasing them together afterwards as tankobons with out of order chapters and didn't stop anymore.
You can notice Mazinger Z's design changes all the time along the manga too, and that Boss Borot suddenly pops into existence.
I wouldn't really stress it in terms of versus and canonicity, and just use the current published manga as the manga version of Mazinger Z. If Kodansha and Go Nagai didn't care, why should we?
